That's kinda like saying "The teacher knows the answers to our homework, why doesn't she just tell us them?"

    Or something like that

Because someone killing someone else for no good reason is helping us, right?

Science and technology are my faith because they have given me the ability to talk with many people from around the world, who share a similar interest of games and development.

Without science and technology, there would be no internet thus no touch arcade to make this forum post. There's also a lot more science and technology has provided for me (agriculture, transportation, media, etc) but that was just the first example that came to mind.

    :)

Honestly, I let people believe what they want. Religion is a system of beliefs, and the wonderful part of believing is, you can believe what you want.

That being said, I could believe that one day listerine will rule the world with an iron cap, but that doesn't make it so :p

My own religion? I wouldn't really tie myself down to one, though currently I am atheistic/agnostic. I research religions and try to find one that suites me, none just seem to do with currently.

Oh, and to the people who were saying you are your own god, thats modern satanism ;)

When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That is my religion.

I've strongly believed for a long time that religion is nothing more than a way for a group of people to keep their lives 'in check' with the basic fundamentals of what it takes to become a good human being. Once the moral and ethical do's and do nots are laid down, what is good and what is bad (which is precisely what sets apart one religion from another) boils down to individuals' beliefs. God did not tailor religion; man did. In the Hindu religion, eating beef (cow) is frowned upon. If you're a Muslim, you're not supposed to eat pork.

What I don't understand is why people follow it blindly without questioning it. Seeing the bigger important IMO is more important than losing your identity to your religious group.

Most people who follow a religion, I feel, do it out of habit. Mind you, i've been exposed to Hindu culture and religion for a long time and it's amazing how many people don't eat non-vegetarian food here "because you're not supposed to".

Anywho; c'est la vie. Live your life, do what makes you happy (as long as you stay in line)... that's all :)

That's true, but it's not such a bad thing. Their guidelines are mostly totally reasonable, with only a few suspect statements thrown in. I'm not a Satanist, but I'll admit that just like any other religion, some of what they say makes sense.

Look at the 9 Satanic sins for example:

    1. Stupidity
    2. Pretentiousness
    3. Solipsism
    4. Self-deceit
    5. Herd Conformity
    6. Lack of Perspective
    8. Counterproductive Pride
    9. Lack of Aesthetics

Many of those draw parallels with the views of an Athiest, self-deceit, herd conformity and lack of perspective in particular as they represent organized religion.

Oh, and I'm sure we all knew already, but before someone says something stupid, modern Satanism (or at least LaVey's CoS) is not devil worshiping ;)

Oh I know that, wasn't saying it was a bad thing either :p
I tried explaining it wasn't devil worshiping to some friends, but they are convinced that it is.

I totally agree with you-- that is why I don't believe in God being "only Good". I think that God is both good and evil because we need both of these things in the world. We need bad experiences so we can learn from them, and we need good experiences to distinguish what is bad. God can't be only good or evil because that would mean he/she/it has an extremely limited view of the world.
I do-- my faith is just an extra part of who i am, not a crutch for my entire life.

As am I, I tend to be skeptical to religion. But I will say this as it was said to me. We all (those who are religious) worship the same entity, but see and think of him in different forms. For me I think this way, christians believe in God and think that any other god is unreal, Muslims believe in Alah (and what ever the other gods name is (not sure, as I have never looked into it farther than a textbook)) and they believe that everyother god is unreal. Who's to say which religion is right? We as humans sure as hell can't. It's in the christian religion that we cannot pass judgement on people, yet it says that our god is the only true god. So how can the bible say this, yet tell us not to pass judgement on others? It's near impossible to not pass judgement on other religions when you believe that yours is right. Basically, I don't know who is right or who is wrong, hell for all we know, we could all be wrong, and all going to hell. Just my thoughts :/

Same here. I've got the feeling 1 and 6 are probably the most common numbers on that scale.
