I really don't understand why people have blogs, I mean it seems interesting, but what does one write about in said blogs?
They're there so that middle aged losers can have some way to vent about crap that frusterates or interests them that no one else gives a crap about.
I used to have a couple blogs, mostly so I could vent. Nobody would hear me, and it made me felt like someone cared when i got spam. But then people actually started to listen to me...then i stopped... There fun, but tedious. It's kinda like trying to open your own review site, or youtube video channel.
Why does TouchArcade have a blog? - Because it's to keep you informed about up-to-date stuff in the iDevice community. - Some blogs are about Technology (TUAW, Gizmodo, BoingBoing) - Some are Entertainment (TVSquad, /Film, io9) - Some are satire (Cracked). ^ All of those blogs I read. And I absolutely love them. <3
All of this, and it should be Blarg. They are really only good when people find it that are looking for what you have to say, and what you are saying is worth reading. And I agree that they are hard to keep up and I suck at writing.
If you own GTAIV, head over to the Tw@ Internet cafe and the blog site there for an excellent summary why people blog.
the only blogs i bother checking in on periodically are crafting blogs. some instructors have blogs to talk about their upcoming classes, they will post tutorials, etc. i happened across a really cool blog recently that follows this guy who has been traveling all over the world in his sail boat. but yeah, there is so much crap to weed through and most are boring, lame or so personal to the point of embarrassing. kind of like most people's facebook pages
