System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine ftw. I don't listen to either band by album (in fact, there may only be like 4 that I do), but any new songs by either band would be great.

As for me, I'm waiting on A7X's "Nightmare" coming out July 27th... It's going to be insane. I'm also waiting for Between the Buried and Me to come ou with a new album after listening to The Great Misdirect and Colors, but seeing as The Great Misdirect came out last Spetember, it's probably going to be a while before we hear any new albums from them.

The album has had it's day. Much like the music video, it's day has passed. The industry needs to recognize this and spend more time/effort pimping out digital download singles. People just aren't going to buy entire albums anymore. Everyone knows what an album is. It's one or two high-end songs packaged around a whole bunch of weak throw-away songs. Digital distribution has rendered obsolete the notion of an album. Just pump out singles. One new single a month or something.

No way man, albums will always be around. For the most part, albums are a grouping of songs that are somewhat similar, usually focusing around some sort of theme or idea. Plus, since it takes a while for albums to come out and bands change over time, bands are often talked about by album. For example, when I talk about Avenged Sevenfold or Underoath, I classify their songs by album, since songs on Underoath's album They're Only Chasing Safety sound a lot different than on their new album, Kalidascope (I forgot how to spell it... crap).

Plus, if you ever want to change your mind about that, just listen to the album Colors by Between the Buried and Me without pausing at each song. It just wouldn't be the same if they released their songs as singles.

Amon26's albums. He worked on the music for Hook Champ. Feint & Haylon Singles. He is fixing the download site to the third one so it may or may not be downloadable. I had to:

    1-save them
    2-Unzip them
    3-open in Window's Media Player
4-Burn them from now playing on to disc.
    5-Put back in
    6-Open in iTunes
    7-Rip Disc
8-Put in title, artist, & album

IT IS WORTH THE EFFORT IF YOU LOVE ELECTRONIC OR EIGHT-BIT MUSIC!

*FREE AND LEGAL. NO DRM & HE WANTS YOU TO SHARE THE MUSIC.

this is what albums have become - there was a time when artists poured sweat over each song on an album.

A truly good album can be rendered cinematic in your minds eye.

I myself can't stand the thought of the loss of the album format - it would be like losing novels to short stories.

I really dig this pop album Lenka-self titled. Every song will gets me humming &, in some cases, singing along in public.

Your correct, they are obsoleet, but they are needed. Green Day's last two albums have been Rock operas, and if it was just a bunch of hit singles, it'd be just another singles set list. Like somerandomdude said, albums are a grouping of similiarily themed music.

Time to resurrect an old thread.

I've been listening to a lot of melodic rock/metal lately, and I've been wondering, what's the most melodic metal you guys can find? For reference I've been listening to a lot of Between the Buried and Me, Dream Theater, and Cynic (another band to check out, a good song being Evolutionary Sleeper) lately, so anything like that would be awesome.

Way to bring back an old thread. Just in time too, I've been starting to listen to the same songs repeatedly.

I need some melodic stuff. Anything that just has an awesome sort of melodic sound to it, recommend it.

Also, I recommend checking out Duct Tape Smile by Psyopus. It's an extremely weird song, but it sounds great put together.

It Prevails and For the Fallen Dreams are some 2 very good melodic harcore bands. Also The Color Morale is a realllyy good melodic post hardcore band. Tell me if you like any of those :D

If you liked Party Rock, which for me I only really liked one song from, you should check out Shooting Star (feat. LMFAO, Pitbull & Kevin Rudolf) [Party Rock Mix] by David Rush. I think that it's pretty good.
