Oh, well if you hate straight up scream-fests, I have some other music you might like, since there's quite a bit of screaming in the songs by Zao I'm listening to, although they're insane. Definitely check out Underoath if you havn't already, since they were my favorite band for a long time. Great combo of vocals, especially considering how great he clean vocals are. Also check out A Threnody for Modern Romance by It Dies Today. Great song.
Plus one thousand to As I Lay Dying. They kinda are straight up screamfests at times, although I love their clean vcoals in An Ocean Between Us (the song). I've heard of TDWP but never really tried listened to them, think Ill try right now. But I was listening to Augus Burns Red earlier and they were pretty damn good. What do you guys think of Trivium?
August Burns Red is the best!!! Constellations is one of the best albums I've heard... Especially the songs Meddler, White Washed, and Mariana's Trench. Check them out if you want their best stuff. As I Lay Dying - I've been listening to them since I heard "The Sound of Truth" on Headbanger's Ball at my cousin's house a few years ago. And I love that band as well. Confined, The Darkest Nights, and 94 Hours are my favorite songs of theirs. And definitely give TDWP a shot. Great band, especially, as we discussed, Assistant to the Regional Manager and Gimme Half. Oh yeah, Trivium is sick. Love the song Like Light to the Flies. I havn't heard too much by them, but what I have heard was great.
Janelle Monae: The ArchAndroid Great for working out. They label her R&B but she has many influences throughout this album.
Last album? Probably A Beautiful Lie by 30 Seconds to Mars. The last song would be Fat Lip by Sum 41.
I think I've just found the most obscure combo of genres I can think of... Pirate Metal. Yes, that's right. Pirate metal. I've been listening to one band Alestorm, and it's actually pretty good. Check out the song Keelhauled. It's pretty strange but it's so awesome... Just check it out. For more bada__ery, check out Ensiferum for some Viking-styled metal, with my personal favorite song being Battle Song. Trust me, just listen to it if you've been listening to the same music that we've been discussing for the last page or so.
Pirate Metal has been around for a while Ever heard of Dropkick Murphys? One of my favorite bands, and probably the most popular pirate metal band. Check 'em out.
Sweet I'll give TDWP a shot and listen to those songs from August Burns Red. Yeah the only song I've heard from Trivium is Like Light to the Flies. Their guitar and drum parts are pretty good, but I think the screaming needs some improvement.
You're calling the Dropkick Murphys Pirate metal? I always just considered them Irish Rock. Nonetheless, love that band, particularly I'm Shipping Up to Boston. Agreed. Their vocals could use some improvement, although the clean vocals sound great. Check some of their new album, Shogun, out. I forget the song, but they actually sound a bit more like Metallica now. As much as I like that, I much prefer their Ascendancy style stuff.
Haha as in one of my favorite bands, I should've said that I only have 3 songs There's a few songs by them that are really pirate-y. Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya being one. That's definitely my favorite song by them. Any other song I should pick up by them? I also have Shipping Up to Boston and The State of Massachusetts.
I also like Time to Go. I havn't heard a ton by them either, but what I've heard I really liked. Time to Go is a great song. But seriously, EVERYTHING about Alestorm is piratey. From the sounds, to the lyrics, to the video, EVERYTHING is pirate-themed. It's so ridiculously awesome though. There was a straight up metal band that had a pirate theme to it called Swashbuckle, which wasn't too bad, but Alestorm is so much better when it comes to being piratey.
Sounds epic, I'll check them out If you like metal-ish music then you should check out Enter Shikari. Epic screamo/metal/alternative band.
Sounds good, I'll give them a listen in a while. That's right up my alley, with what I've been listening to a bit lately, with bands like Eyes Set to Kill (Pretty much just the song Darling though) and Escape the Fate (yes, they scream in a lot of songs. Go ahead and criticize me) Btw, anyone here listen to Maylene and the Sons of Disaster? I'm just curious how they are since their lead singer is the old singer for Underoath, and they sounded great back then. I heard one song, Memories of the Grove on Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (which I regret playing to a degree). Speaking of the TH game soundtracks, a couple other good songs I heard on there: Thine Eyes Bleed - Without Warning Voltera - Do What Your Daddy Say and It Beats For You Divine Era - The Sound of Truth Hemlock - Aurelius (it's spelled something like that) Pierce the Veil - I'd Rather Die Than Be Famous And one last band - Maximum the Hormone, who did the awesome theme song for Deathnote, "What's Up People" as well as the awesome song "Zetsubou Billy". Comment away.
What did I tell you! It's awesome! Idk why, but there's something great about pirates and rock music. Which song did you hear?
