I got the new Meat Puppets the other day. The album artwork is rad. haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but it's pretty cool. kind of a tom petty vibe Before that was the new Propagandhi record which I think is their best yet. they're an amazing band. progressive thrash/punk my album will be released in the coming months. heavily punk, metal, and classic rock influenced. we tend to get lumped as a "punk" band, but we're not your typical punk band. check out the link in my sig to hear a few tracks. here's a review of our last show. next one is at the House of Blues in a week! http://onethirtyeight.org/sr_2009/sr_2009-04-17_freeze_@_BH.html
I have not heard that cover before and I can't find it either. I seem to recall Bowie stating that this re-visioning, by the Langley Schools Music Project, had the greatest impact on him. I don't know if I would call it great, though it is a strange, melancholic, zeitgeist. The album aptly titled 'Innocence & Despair.'
Wow, got a new one. I never buy albums that fast Anyways, got Dark Passion Play by Nightwish. Frickin' amazing album. Finnish Symphonic Power Metal Band, different style from the Sacred Oath, the one I got earlier. If anyone's even a little interested, they oughta check out Amaranth, epic song, little poppy, but incredibly epic.
I still prefer to buy actual CD's (or rarely if I really like something Vinyl) but I don't buy a ton of music. The last CD's I bought were all of Sabaton's albums off CDbaby. I am excitedly awaiting the soundtracks for Caprica and Battlestar Galactica Season 4 though. Bear McCreary FTW BTW if you like Nightwish's older albums you should check out Tarja Turunen's solo album My Winter Storm its awesome.
I also have a vinyl fetish, powersurge. Double the dynamic range of a CD. Have you seen the Laser Turntable?
I think I've seen one of those in acoustic sounds.com's catalog. I don't really have enough Vinyl (and I'm broke ) to justify it though. Just some of the "classics" you know Zeppelin, AC/DC, etc..
http://store.ffdistantworlds.com/ Bought entirely because of track 6: Dancing Mad, big awesome orchestra and rock band, and this version doesn't go back and recap after the 3rd movement like they did in the last concert!
The Black Keys' new album came out last week. It's not their usual style, but it's pretty incredible. They're from my hometown, so I'm a little biased, but they'd still be one of my favorites if they weren't.
Yes, 21st Century Breakdown-May 15th, 2009! AMAZING Album, but not their greatest. Start the Bash..NOW! I LOVE GREEN DAY
Peter Gabriel Up Peter Gabriel Scratch My Back Paul Simon Surprise The Pixies Doolittle Radiohead Amnesiac Those are the last five albums I've come by. On vinyl I also picked up Peter Gabriel - I Don't Remember Single which features 3 tracks I am going to record to my collection this weekend My buddy also lent me The Black Keys Brother which is fantastic.
As a broke teenager I tend to borrow my friends and families msuic, so last I bought was Biffy Clyro only revolutions, which is pretty good, but not as good as their older stuff. Last CD i put on my computer was "Riding with the king" by Eric Clapton and B.B King, classic album, bloody amazing
