The Infinity Project. I know it has a fanbase, but I'm always surprised by how little attention it got, particularly after the 2.0 update. For me it's still one of my favorite action games on the platform, and way more fun than Nova. Sure it's pretty old-school in many ways, but it had a solid and varied campaign, and engaging story, and more than it's share of surprises. I sure hope that Infinity Project 2 is still in the works.
You'll be surprised to see how many people hate cut the rope and the iOS version of mortal kombat 3. I can understand people hating the iOS version of umk3 because of the new graphics, less blood and gore and infuriating final boss, but I really can't understand why anyone would hate cut the rope.
Knights of the Phantom Castle, my favorite, not sure everybody hate it's more nobody know it, but also I'm sure that it's one easy to hate because the difficulty is rather nasty, it requires find tricks to make it much more easier and they are tricks not that easy to find. Also the controls are difficult and require a long learning curve, and obviously some people had just stop play and start hate it instead of pushing it further.
Assassin's creed II: Discovery. This game got very little love on this site but I really enjoyed it much more than the Gameloft version.
Mmm it worth it? It is on cheap sale now and for a long time it seems because I quote I got the message explaining that all change in App Store are disabled. Myself I liked the Gameloft game and is looking get the HD version on sales. But I stop played it at a point where I felt controls was too difficult for me. I wonder what's good in this version, it seems like a Beat'm all horizontal game, missing all the subtle points coming from platforms.
Well the sense of momentum (when you are playing well) is satisfying, as are the rather brutal assassination animations and sound effects. It is also reasonably long and there are some quite challenging stealth and escape missions. It did break with the introduction of iOS 4.0 but mysteriously fixed itself with iOS 4.x...
I wouldn't say I hated cut the rope but I know it wouldn't make any of my top games lists. I really like enviro-bearwhich several people dislike, and also veggie samurai I loved despite the haters.
Nope. It is sounds similar but it isn't. Your post was about games you hate that everyone loves. Mine is about games you love that everyone hates.
The thing is, for a game to be hated by many people, it has to be liked by even more. There's no game that has 100k DLs, 90% of which result in 1-star ratings. The app would never have passed 1k in the first place. So many of the games listed in this thread, while they might receive much hate, have sales that indicate there are plenty of people (maybe non-TAers) who really enjoy the game. For example, this forum seems to have a rather irrational hatred towards freemium games (especially Ngmoco in particular). But their $400m acquisition tells us that not everyone hates their "We" series, even if the negativity seems particularly loud here. The actual games which most people would have hated by everyone have not been bought/played, because it's usually pretty easy to filter out games that you wouldn't enjoy. A thread that would make more sense (and has already been covered) would be one on games which are lesser known that you happen to really like.
qft haters also fail to sympathize with a one armed bear's plight to drive, he's not gonna be the most nimble fellow.
Warpgate. Though it got repetitive at times, I found it expansive and fun, once I got the hang of combat I like Pocket God too. I know people complain about it running out of stuff to do after 10 minutes, but hey it's only a buck-and those are 10 fun minutes
For me, it's these. Love 'em: Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2 The Red Star Dragon's Lair Not many people seem to like these babies?? Oh, and Peggle too! Is this still loved?
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. It appeared on the app store for 5 minutes on release and then shot off the bottom of the charts. I thought this game was smart for iOS but for some reason the reviewers and a good deal of people didnt like it.
I thought Rage HD, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Dead Rising Mobile don't get enough credit. Sure, they aren't the best games ever (especially Dead Rising), but they're still a ton of fun.
Here's a few that I enjoyed that most abhor... with a passion: Iron Man 2 (GASP!) Asphalt 5 BF: Bad Company 2
Not anyone hates it, but at least it doesn't get the attention it deserves Pirate Wings is the closest thing you can get to Lylat Wars
FIFA 11. I tried several football games, but nothing comes even close to this. I'm not that much into EA's other games, but the reviews for this game on the App Store are just ridiculous.
