We all join together at a church and are enveloped by a flash of white light... what? Someone had to say it.
I know a bunch of Christian friends that grew up in a non-Christian family and converted. There are people all over the Muslim world that have converted and kicked out of their house and denounced from their families. There are people that I know that have done "the bad things": drugs, drunks, been arrested, involved in gangs, prostitution, etc. that have changed their lives around. You don't have to be involved in a "Christian family" to be a Christian. There are a ton of people that are/were involved in Christian families that turn atheists or another religion also. I think the idea of "our memory being wiped out" goes against what most Hindus tell people about reincarnation: deja vus. They believe that there are times in our lives when we think that we've been somewhere when we actually have never been there our entire lives, and that's the basis Hindus use for reincarnation. BTW, to the person who died for 2 minutes. There are films and 100s of witnesses that I've seen that have died from car accidents and revived again. And they went to hell, saw the fires, and everything. I'm not saying that your situation is false... it brings up another idea. You're conscious after your death. You know where you are and your surroundings... so it's not an "eternal sleep".
I hope nothing happens because nothing is more strange and amazing than heaven with their magical man birds or hell with it's magical goats with pitch forks. Nothing can't be proved can't be written about can even be imagined, nothing is too much for our minds to even grasp. And that's more exciting and scary than any heaven or hell you can ever describe or promise to me.
...but you probably have to have heard of it, otherwise if you catch religion at all you're more likely to worship the sun or some kind of forest wizard.
Bahahahahaha. You act like you're certain of all things spiritual. Truth be told, you're no more right than a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu, or an Atheist. That's why I'm loosely deist. I claim an ignorance, a void, most find they must fill. By the way, if a man lives on an isolated island, has never heard of Christ, and his theistic religion teaches him to practice human sacrifice and cannibalism, is he automatically condemned to hell? I'm really sick of Christians or any other theistic religion telling me, "No offense, but I'm certain you're screwed in the afterlife." Next time it happens, I swear I'm going to retort, "No offense, but you can never be certain. Oh, by the way your religion has been the direct cause of multiple human conflicts as major as wars and as minor as this one." That's how offensive it is for Christians or anyone to rant to me about superiority and expect me to not take a stand. Back to the title of this thread. When you die, I believe that dimethyltryptamine is released to your brain just prior to you death. That's the biggest leap of faith I find myself able to make. After that, I don't know.
well i can only tell you from my experience. i really think what people think they see is from lack of oxygen. chris.
nature as a god or a religion makes sense.. it gives us life.. so its easy to see how that became. chris.
Yeah, I'm aware of that. And that's why I said in my original post (and in the poll) that reincarnation doesn't necessarily have to be the Hindu way. It can be any way you want. I'm not a Hindu, I don't believe in enlightenment/nirvana etc. But for me, if reincarnation is true, then your memory of your previous life would be cleaned and you would start fresh.
I'm assuming you're not a Christian and may or may not have been raised in a religious family. But you have heard of Christianity, right? I see. That's interesting since if that's the case, we'll have no idea what happens after death. It's an intriguing subject that I'm afraid won't be solved until after we die.
You simply go into the ground, and there your body stays. Then, in the future, nuclear fallout will penetrate the ground and cause the undead bodies to start shaking rapidly. Eventually, our carcasses will move at such a high speed that they will detonate, thus causing a massive transfusion of dirt and topsoil into the atmosphere, blocking out the sun and causing our unpreventable downfall.
And that's where you go wrong. This is what you should have said: "I have been told that we all will go to heaven/hell depending on if we believe in Jesus, so that's what I think." I'm okay with people telling me what they think, but stop acting as if you know.
This thread is out of line, everyone knows that Religion and Politics should NEVER EVER be on ANY forum.
I am a strong Christian, and I believe that God will judge us once we die. Either Heaven or Hell. I plan on going to Heaven
