I think the vast majority of religious leaders would strongly disagree with that sentiment.

The beauty of it is you don't have to listen to them, or anyone else for that matter.

So what's the point in going to church or reading the Bible if you don't have to listen to it?

Also I'd be interested to hear some religious citations that permit this practise of picking and choosing certain only certain aspects. Sounds more like spirituality than religion

my casual point of view on this, given some vauge facts i recall.

religion comes from the latin religare(sp) which means to bind or get caught up. i see this with religious beliefs, whilst i accept them as part of society, i feel they are all man made and people become hooked and trapped on them. using fire and brimstone (fear) to force people to believe their ways is just as bad as terrorism. the plus side of religion is that it creates an order from chaos, without something to believe and rules to follow anarchy would rule the planet, that could be a problem.

i feel a creator must have breathed a soul into us, a sudden explosion of matter creating life seems just as far fetched as anything "anti science" and leaves many questions.

i hope if we screw up in this life we can get reincarnated until the lesson is learnt. beyond that .. who knows, if someone does they are keeping it a well hidden secret ;)

I think calling the Big Bang Theory far-fetched is strange in a way, considering a few hundred years ago people would have said the same about the earth being round, man landing on the moon, pretty much anything to do with electricity/wireless communication, the list is endless. Mankind is forever realising that ideas once considered totally impossible are actually pretty damn easy once you know how they work. Everything seems impossible until it's understood, I don't see why an explosion of matter creating life should be any different.

What is this shit? You think half of the bible is true and half of it isn't?

Doesn't work that way. Either you believe God speaks to people from trees on fire or you don't.

And going as far to say that bashing a religion is insulting an entire person's family is beyond ludicrous.

But then you said that it doesn't insult you. I find that hard to believe, because you've been defending it for nearly 100 posts now.

And your constant defending of MACHIDA of all people sinks my impressions of you to a new low. You've changed a lot lately, and apparently I'm not the only one that thinks that. As for me being an immature smartass, I really don't see how that surprises you, since you've known me for a year now.

I know, he's been defending Machida for pretty much the whole thread. The whole argument started with Machida. And I have to agree about him changing. I used to have quite a lot of respect for him, but now he's acting like a douche (both in this thread and the World Cup thread).

Sigh, you didn't need to put that word in there. I know it's your belief, and that's fine. But nobody knows the truth, so you shouldn't be calling anything "obvious".

I'm not religious in any way, but I believe in reincarnation :p It just makes more sense to me, I don't know why.

Yeah, that seems to be pretty common. I'm not at all religious, yet I can see how reincarnation makes sense. But let me ask you this, do you believe that humans can be reincarnated as animals (or vice versa)? I think that if reincarnation is true, humans are reincarnated as humans and animals are reincarnated as exactly the same species of animal.

lol, I never thought about that. Although thankfully it's pretty subtle and most people wouldn't notice.
