Well if you believed in a God, you would believe that God called all the animals to the Ark. As for fitting them all onto the boat, that's actually quite simply answered. If you're thinking that all the animals in the world RIGHT NOW were put into the boat, you'd have to be insane. A theory is that on the boat was only one species of dogs, one or two species of cats, lions, birds, giraffes, etc. After the boat landed, the animals started inter-mating and creating new species, leading to the number of species and animals we have today. That's the theory that I think makes the most sense. Make of it what you will. Also to your Jonah comment that I can't find at the moment: There are actually real-life, modern day Jonahs in the world today. There are countless stories of men that have actually lived inside the belly of a nurse shark for 3-4 days. There are other accounts of a man living inside a whale shark for 5 days or so. It's definitely possible.
Not talking about their religions, I'm talking about their accomplishments. And I think a lot in the bible is stories to teach you how to live.
I think believing in Anubis would be pretty cool. There's gotta be a bunch of people who still do, we need to get them in here.
Yes, I've already stated that taking it as fact is ridiculous, and taking it as life stories is totally fine. My opinion of course. What on earth do you mean "Their accomplishments"? You asked me if I thought Egyptian and Mayan religions were ridiculous too. I have no recollection ever mentioning accomplishments.
Really? Because I'm pretty sure I'm only attacking people who directly insult religion, calling it "stupid" and "ridiculous." I completely destroyed you earlier, catching you in the act of being a dumbass, just get over it and move on.
The closest thing I can think of is we could invite the Flat World Society, but it might take a while, they'd want to go the long way round
I'll be honest, that one made me laugh . And like others have said, although I'm a Christian, I believe a lot of things in the Bible are more allegory than fact. No the universe and life wasn't created in 7 days, a flood did not completely cover the earth, evolution did occur. What makes me sad are the people who take every part of the Bible seriously. I was doing an argumentative paper on creationism and evolution last year and interviewed my church's youth pastor. While he agreed there might be some parts that are allegorical(I hopefully assume the 7 day universe ), he completely denied evolution, because there are too many flaws, etc.
We're actually both wrong. I mentioned "the Mayans" and "the Egyptians," but I meant they're accomplishments.
Sort of. What I'm trying to point out is: Don't EVER bash on someone's religion. Everyone is entitled to they're own beliefs, and if you bash them you start sounding, and becoming, a smartass bigot. Especially if you know nothing of the religion.
That's a good way to be. I have respect for religious people who don't take the Bible seriously, just take the key points and morals from the stories and apply them to real life. There is no way anyone can argue that everything in the Bible is true.
This man changed my life. Read his story and understand that you can overcome anything with God. And yes, he is a strong Christian. If you do bash, please dont bash him. I hope one day, I could be as strong as this man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8ZuKF3dxCY
