They will never make Super Smash Bros. I'm sorry to report, it sucks because it would be really cool to see on the iPhone,
Thats my group, yeah, its cool. and it wouldnt be SSB, it would be SSB-esque game with the same concept, but different. not an exact port
I'm for either a SSB - style fighter or a Fallout like game. Just something that hasn't been done in the App Store yet... I'm so tired of seeing shooter after shooter of different types at this point that anything new is welcome. I also just want to suggest integrating the touch-screen somehow no matter what type of game you make. Even something simple, like the little interactions in Fallen EP-1 and Prisoner 84 drew me in more. Like in a SSB-style fighter, for special moves have some sort of touch screen integration, whether you tap parts of the screen, draw lines, etc. It helps to bring the players into the game a bit more.
For those who are interested in Jagged Alliance or Fallout game. What kind of setting or them would you be interested in seeing?
Fire Emblem clone: - Not generic units, each unit has a name, story, level, stats, equipment, etc - Units die permanently - Battle cutscene - Weapons have stats such as accuracy, damage, hit rate, etc, can be purchased from stores - Terrain advantage/disadvantages Develop something like that and you'll have no problem selling it for at least $9.99, highest price tag for a game app except Square Enix's titles. So far the app store has nothing that even resembles a turn-based strategy RPG except Battle for Wesnoth which is still completely different but along the border.
This. However, about the unit permadeath, I have read countless reviews about how it makes the game 'too difficult' and blah blah blah. I personally love this aspect of the series, it makes you care about your characters and actually think about your moves, but apparently reviewers don't, and I'm afraid that the iDevice crowd, a lot of whom are casuals, will be put off by this. For example, Jet Car Stunts was sometimes marked down for its difficulty. Perhaps this could be remedied by having a 'casual mode' (like JCS did), where units come back at the end of battles, so both casuals and hardcore players can enjoy it.
Post-apocalyptic or Early Cyberpunk (Syndicate, or System Shock series). I personally would also very much appreciate thick dark humour, and/or more adult themes in the story (especially if it is modelled after the early Fallout series).
*insert genre here* combined with rpg elements. Make sure the story isn't halfbaked. My only suggestions.
I think it would be really cool to have a very heavily story-based game whther it be an rpg or action game. I just feel like there isnt enough of that on the app store, unless someone cares to correct me or give me an example.
I have a suggestion, a little delicate. Din's Curse approach of dynamic quests + Torchlight fights skill design + Turn based + More story than in both. Another wish would be more simply a Din's Curse remake or port on ipad/iphone but I doubt the developer would agree and real time would be quite a challenge to setup good controls on iphone/ipad. Few games working well for me in similar games and point and touch controls, Samurai Way of the Warrior HD, Dungeon Hunter HD, Underworlds Ultimate Edition. But well not sure how it works on iphone. Also I doubt it would work if you tried a direct port of action design of games like Din's Curse or Torchlight. Ha well that's very ambitious and quite a risky bet... Well try reach Fallout 1 quality is also like that if not more.
I don't know the game but for one setup allow sacrifice units during a battle and in another setup makes it highly negative is a total balance change of the game. In chess most of the fun comes when you sacrifice to win, for a game with multiple units I don't see how it could make more interesting to make sacrifice a highly negative choice, it's more lowdown tactical depth and generate overprotective gameplay. But ok that's not that simple and that's also a lot of a matter of balance and game mechanisms.
Thanks for all the feedback guys! I created a 4 question survey that will take less than 1 minute to complete. I think it's easier to organize the ideas this way. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TDW22S8
