Not religion. Like said, don't believe in Eywa, I believe in the God of Israel. But some of the Na'vi practices I do like and have taken into my own life.
No, I have to agree. People who obsess about a specific piece of mediocre sci-fi are on some level worse then their fundamentalist religious counterparts. Note to Star Wars fans, if you're within stabbing distance and want to talk to me about "the force" or the 50 reasons why it's the best thing in your life you will lose an eye.
How is fighting for your beliefs radical? It's actually quite rational and you're doing it right now. Unless by fighting you mean actual physical fighting, in which case yes that would be radical.
While I respect your opinion, I would like to point out that a prerequisite for the scientific process is an open mind. You also express a belief that science will in the end take us away from religion. Belief is a major component of any religion. Ironic. Christianity is but one religion and has many followers. I don't view the actions of some as an indictment of the whole religion. I don't do it with Muslims or even atheists. Your belief in science is understandable. I also hold it in the highest esteam. However, as I pointed out earlier, many have thought it would eliminate any need for religion before. This is just food for thought. Good discussion.
I just believe that if we eliminated religion and began to educate people, there would be little to no fighting. As of now, though, most of the fighting in the world has a lot to do with religion. Edit: sorry for double posting, I just realized i did
I would submit that religion has been used as a convenient excuse, by well educated people, to fight. In fact some of the most proficient warlords often turnout to be highly educated. Actually some Romans believed the Huns were godless and therefore insatiable in their appetite for conquest.
