The science hasn't got the answer for everything, whilst it is true, 2,000 years ago it had almost no answers. So it has the answers, we just don't know it yet
Science is not an all knowing entity. It is a process. I would disagree with you about knowledge 2000 years ago. That ancient Greeks could theorize about the existance of atoms demonstrates a tremendous capacity for deductive reason and logic. It was only recently that man could confirm the existance of atoms. In the mean time humanity will look for answers as it always has in the form of philosphy. I see nothing wrong with this. The Art of War (Sun Tzu) was also compiled roughly around this time. In my opinion, it is a preminent Psychology text on the nature of man.
I can't stand it when infidels say things like: Supernaturalism evolved from our ignorance, during a time when we didn't have many rational or scientific ways to explain natural phenomenon. Most religions are the result of impatience, fear, and even politics. Anyhow, this thread needs more love. "If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as menservants do. If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself, he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her. If he selects her for his son, he must grant her the rights of a daughter. If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights. If he does not provide her with these three things, she is to go free, without any payment of money." -- Exodus 21:7-11
You can't blame him for being offended by people who judge him for being bisexual. Every step science takes is a step further from religion. Soon, thank god (irony), there may not be religion left. And while looking towards religion for answers may be okay, a lot of the time it's not. Religion causes fighting and ignorance. Also, the lessons that religion teach are the most basic human lessons, you don't need religion to tell you to be nice (even though most radical religious people want to fight for their beliefs). The most ironic thing ever is people who follow the work of Jesus, a kind, loving man, and decide that he wants them to kill muslims. That is disgusting and literally the exact opposite of what Jesus would want.
When I was in Kindergarten, I had one of those Dinosaur obsessions. I was talking about it on the bus and the bus driver, a die-hard christian lady, turned around and told me that Dinosaurs weren't real and the Discovery Channel was making things up. That pretty much made me less sensitive to religious belief, even like 8 years later. Oh, and I will attempt to destroy anyone who brings up "Teh endz uv teh WORLD" in 2012.
I am 100% atheist and I believe 100% in science. But If I had to believe in a Religion, it would be Buddhism. They seem to be honest, they aren't greedy, they have good morals and teachings, they wouldn't cause any shitty religious wars, and they make the most sense. Although I think they would look a lot cooler if they dressed in black rather than orange
+1, I have similar to Buddhist beliefs. I'm vegan, I don't like insane violence(although violent video games don't bother me XD) etc.
Christian and somewhat Na'vi. Not the creepy Eywa crap, believe solely in the God of Jacob and Issac, but I like some Na'vi ideals and practices.
Somehow that doesn't surprise me coming from you xD And no, I'm not being funny. I'm being as legit as I can possibly be.
