Hey guys, Been a loooong time since I came back here. What are all the free games that y'all have been playing?? I've been playing a lot of Slotomania & Angry Gran Run And of course have more people tried out my free apps here: NewtonApples: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/newtonapples/id417698312?ls=1&mt=8 BetterLetter: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/betterletter/id426913117?ls=1&mt=8 Would love more feedback on these freebies that we design. Fun fun fun!
How many truly "free" games are there these days? Most are really just IAP traps. Personally I prefer paying upfront for a game. I HATE games based upon in-game currencies that you buy via IAP to advance. They are Satan incarnate as videogames. Having said all that... are there some good truly free games that don't require IAP purchases to experience the whole game?
I normally avoid free games now as like you say they often arent free and you have to pay to unlock them. I wouldnt mind if they said upfront 'free to try, only 99c to unlock' but often they seem to market them as absolutely free ! Problem is with so many quality games out there on iOS nowadays i tend to stay away from the free ones as often i find them disappointing (sorry !)
Jetpack Joyride(Absolutely funny) Subway Surfers(I don't like Temple Run but Subway Surfers was good for me)
Well... I usually buy my games day-1, but i remember a few great games going free at one point... MAMC went free at one point. Now Super Crate Box and Infectonator are free and both are great games. Infinite Warrior, Blood Roofs, Swordigo, Beat Hazard Ultra, Battleloot Adventures, 100 Rogues, Carmageddon all went free at one point at least. For the great games i got free I can only remember a few... Omegapixel The Blocks Cometh (not sure if i got this free) Agent Dash One Epic Knight Jetpack Joyride Mega Run Im sure there's tons more as some of the paid games I have are currently free.
I have the full versions, but these games are completely free with the whole game playable without spending a cent: (all puzzlers) Save The Puppies Penguin Patrol Hairy balls Seabirds Chute Gelato mania Dimo eggs Drag the rope
I love "Happy Street" This is online game with IAP but you don't need money to build anything. Lovely graphics, nice character, gameplay with funny story is best combination. This is one of my favorite game.
temple run jet pack joyride hay day epic hearts inotia 3 (also i have the plus version) inotia 4 (also i have the plus version) zenonia 4
dragonvale, gun bros, super stickman golf, ive found hundreds of free hidden gems but beat them and forgot about them
What if the game is free to play, but, there are bonus in app purchases like themes etc.? These don't necessarily enhance user experience greatly but are more like 'luxury purchases', if you will. How do you guys feel about that? Just curious as to how different people perceive a 'free' game.
some of my favorite FREE games here. 1) Monster Burner (use your fingers to flick fireballs at incoming minions. and you've got FREE+NEW levels daily!) 2) Dark Dot (sketch any funky shape and see the little dots fall into a shooting formation. Sh'mup game. only 4 levels though. ;/ ) 3) Heroes Academy (wonderful strategy turn based battle) 4) Puzzle Saga (addicting match 3 puzzle in the form of army.... it's free as of today! 23 Oct 2012)
I'm not a huge fan of that game but i'm surprised you've never played it ! But as a dev surely you should be talking about 'paid' games not free ! I would think you would want to encourage people to buy games rather than look for free ones. I'm not personally into 'luxury' purchases, i'm happy knowing a game might be free but x amount to unlock it as hopefully that'll help devs against pirating. But i just want to play games, not pay x amount for my character to dress up kinda thing.
Well we have a few apps so we decided that we would like to keep the games free at most points. But, yes, you do have a good point. Anyone else who might have a different point of view?
