I prefer to stay away from boards with lots of flame wars, and I prefer more cerebral game genres like strategy and RPGs. I'm also very interested in abandonware- for some reason I can't get registered at home of the underdogs, and I lost my password ;( Thanks!
Home of the Underdogs has been half dead for quite awhile now, unfortunately. http://www.sorcerers.net is a community based around PC games that use the Dungeons and Dragons system. It's an old, solid community that is still active all the time.
