I think it depends on the popularity of the show. DbZ was translated in about 2 years if I'm correct. So it just depends how much the public demands it, if it's high then someone will translate it soon.
Just finished Steins;Gate. I enjoyed it, but I guess it didn't hit me emotionally as hard as it has other people. Still want to rewatch it eventually. I think next up on my list is Baccano. I have absolutely no idea what it's about but it's supposedly good so wish me luck.

Also, I've been watching One Outs (thanks for the recommend, Infinity) it's really neat. I choose to watch it before the other recommends here (I plan on watching all of them at some point) simply because I'd never watched a sports anime. I'm about half way in and it is quite marvolus to see Toua mess the minds of the opposing team. I simply cannot stand the owner, he is basically the root of all evil. Thank you gain for all the suggestions, it's very nice to have a plan of what to watch instead of just a whole bunch of random stuff I find all over the net.
And, please, can someone make a damn anime thread?! I hate that all this is under the thread title asking for an anime thread! If anyone reading has the time, please make a dedicated thread here in the lounge!
It took me completely by surprise I couldn't believe it. I was sort of traumatized by the entire thing. I couldn't stop thinking about it for a week!
What does everyone watch? Subtitled or dubbed? I only watch dubbed. Two of my Japanese friends said that the translations are always bad for English speakers with the subtitles but the dubbing is usually a better translation with proper English.
That's very interesting, I never considered that. I personally feel that the lack of Japanese voice actors takes away some of the charm, but after hearing this, I can definitely understand the appeal.
I watch both subbed and dubbed but I have even seen anime where story is completely different in subbed and dubbed versions. But if there's dubbed version available I prefer it. Because sometimes the subbed voices for male characters are quite hilarious for me.
Yeah subs aren't always the best especially if its from a new subber or troll one *cough*Commie*cough* but dubs are usually worse off. To fit the mouth speaking, sentences are often changed and with that the original conveyed thought is also changed. A good example is the High School DxD dubs. The AV weren't bad but its a whole new story. Luckily my dad is quite fluent in Japanese so I can always swing by him. The best dubs unsurprisingly were the Ghibli film which probably amounts to the cash they have to hire good translators. Though recently Crunchyroll subs aren't exactly accurate, their Fate/Stay subs were quite bad on a few episodes.
