A big ass burger will be satisfying for about 5-10 minutes. This game will entertain you much longer than that, and it won't give you the shits afterwards.
I hope that comment is not sarcasm?!? Surely you have wished for people to choke on things and die in real life as well?? Thus the beauty of the internet in allowing us all to share our true feelings without fear of a physical beat down. In real life I simply think to myself... 'Man, I wish they would choke on something and die'. On the internet I can actually tell the world how I feel!!! It is truly amazing! BTW: Game looks cool, but, I'm currently addicted to anything that involves grinding to gain more points/coins/whatever to improve various attributes. Must be the adamphetamine in my system.
Not to sidetrack this thread but 16.99?? We seem to be at a point where we the consumer will set the price of ios games and it seems clear SE are nudging that number up. Dont get me wrong, I am fully behind supporting developers and ensuring that ios gaming is profitable and inviting to big publishers and I'm a console gamer who pays $50+ for those games, however we need to be careful we dont open the door to unnecessarily high prices. Dead Space Hd is $10, Infinity Blade $6, Real Racing 2 $10. If SE keep selling their games higher and we keep buying them, these other publishers-who dont seem to be starving-will follow suit in no time. Support the $10 price point, or even the $15 but just know that next it'll be FF4 at $20 and FF5 at $25. This ios gaming is a whole new ball game and i feel like WE can set the standard for pricing in this crazy app store market at least to some degree. Rant over, we now return you to your regularly scheduled FF3 thread....
Those words cut deep, Internet Patron...oh so deep. "Ill-informed" would be me NOT looking at the media presented and making a judgement. Media like a YouTube video and screenshots are put up, so we can judge; based on personal taste. Based on the vid, the game looks bland, and the jumping looks floaty. I don't need to throw $5 at the dev to SEE that I don't like that game. Nor should I pay for a game I don't see myself playing(no disrespect to the dev). Don't feel sorry for me, your pity isn't worth a cent, nor are your depraving words on this forum. Shame that people think it's ok to act like that towards someone who doesnt agree with your point of view. The guys basically said "you should die for not buying the app".....yeah?! That's forum etiquette for you. On topic: almost 11, time to go download some stuff....not this tho, not yet anyways.
Wow is that harsh. Did you manage to get the name of the guy or gal that sent you the message? You should report him or her.
SE can afford to charge this much because the game is console quality, thus we, as consumers are buying this game. Can you imagine a game like Angry Birds for this much? Very few will buy the game as "value" of the game is not as high.
Don't apologise. It's a more than valid concern and anyone with a modicum of foresight and common sense should be able to see it. Not going to write the 500 words plus (reasoned) rant I'd like to add myself as it just feels like I'll be wasting my time. "It's a black day for iOS gaming" was the thought that crossed my mind when I saw the price for this though.
Actually, the real problem with app store pricing is that the low prices are too low, which could ultimately make it implode as a retail source. If some developers are always willing to sell decent apps for a buck, then consumers will always look to great apps with even higher production values and say, "Why should I buy your app for $5 when I can get app X for $1?!?" That is not healthy for the market. Oversaturation of lower quality product is never a good thing. Google "Atari".
Atari never had 100 million people with insta access to downloads, lite versions, Internet access to reviews and comparisons...hour analogy is wrong...iOS gaming and apps work because of the low price points and volume sales...smart devs realize you can make a solid high quality product and sell it from 1-6 bucks and make a metric $@/&load of money...I agree today is a black day in iOS gaming, 17 bucks for a port of a how many year old game? Once the slippery slope of price edges higher and higher, we are going to lose the spontenaity of the unique innovation and diverse design on small home brew developers and before you know it we will have a handful of mega evil Corp publishers charging ridiculous amounts for the same processed mass produced dreck that floods the console andmpc market... I'm 35 and been a gamer since I was a kid, and until about two years ago I had pretty much lost affinity for gaming on the pc and consoles, but I found a resurgence of that pure gaming spirit on the AppStore and it has not only revitalized my interest but pretty much replaced all other forms of it for me...between work, two young kids and life, joy and ability to quickly and cheaply download and play ridiculous amounts of new innovative and fun, pick up and play games is amazing...not to mention how great it is to be able to share all this gaming and learning with my four year old and two year old, without spending a fortune. This price point and what a company like EA are doing with double charging for iPad and iPhone versions will ultimately destroy this new in my opinion golden age of gaming.. I just cross my fingers and hope they fail miserably at price point...
Unfortunately, a modicum of common sense doesn't outweigh the ability to recognize a textbook slippery slope argument.
When perceived value undercuts actual value, then those hardworking home brew developers you're speaking of can't make a living. Of course this is a golden age of gaming. We are in agreement about how great the app store is, so I'm not sure how that disproves my point. I own over 6000 apps, I freakin' love the app store, that's why I don't want it to fall to pieces. What you're saying could happen, just as what I'm saying could happen.
True...but if everything goes the way square and EA types would like it to at 20$ plus price points, you can be rest assured all the small home brew indie type devs will disappear and not make a living at all...
