That indeed is pretty nasty. I wouldn't mind a price drop after the initial launch od a game (even though this may not be very nice with respect to the day one customers) but announcing a price increase and doing the opposite is just a slap in the face for those who bought the game initially... and this is not about the $2, is is about business conduct.
The price drop isn't really an issue - it happens. I think the fact they advertised the 'introductory' launch price as being an incentive to buy the game early is what will probably piss most people off as it was blatant marketing BS unfortunately.
Unless they out and out say this discount will be in effect on this range of dates, the price will then rise to X and will never change for at least another Y months, yup, 100% acceptable. Unless it's black and white, with dates and future prices included, assume anything said is subject to change, and even if it is said in black and white with future prices and dates included, still assume it's subject to change. Reality 101 - it's time that people grokked that: 1) A a rule, the highest iOS app store priced game is cheaper than the cheapest Nintendo DS game you will fine outside of the bargain bin, and the overwhelming majority are cheaper than those in the bargain bin with just as much game play. Complaining at prices for iOS games is like complaining your local butcher raised his filet mignon prices from $2/lb to $2.50/lb. 2) Pricing of games on the iOS app store is purely in response to their experimentation - they set it price X and watch sales, they'll raise it to Y, watch sales, determine the optimum price is Z, and set it there until such time as they want to either experiment further or guarantee a leap in the charts. They are seeking to maximize gross profits, that's all there is to it, your feelings are not only immaterial, they aren't worth considering. If you are so petty that you'll boycott future purchases because you feel you were lied to, you might as well reconsider because they just pulled in five people who weren't willing buy it at $4.99 but pounced at $2.99, and when it goes on sale for $1.99, they'll capture more profits from those who weren't willing to buy at $2.99 (and there will be some ignorant subset of the people who bought it at the $2.99 price complaining at that ) 3) In the market place, prices always change. As a consumer, the only rule you can be safe following is never pay more than you think something is worth. If you thought the game was worth the original price, it was, if you bought buying into some delusion on the parts of the publisher that their game could sustain a higher price point in the iOS app store and it was going to go up, well, you (and the publisher) should both know better by now. You want to introduce a game at $0-$2 as an introductory sale, sure, you can do that and safely raise it. You want to start at what is already higher than most will even consider as a sale price, you won't be raising that.
Thanks, but please stop it now. I don't like talking to impious people like you. First you've insulted everyone's intelligence here, then you've insulted Midian and now you start harrassing me because English isn't my first language. You're clearly a troll. Go away.
Actually, I guess they sold less than expected and saw lot of complains on limited content .... And decided to act in the best business way, for future buyers only though.
Oh, please. You checked every hour. You know you did; everyone here who has had the misfortune to deal with you knows you did. This thread is the biggest thing in your empty life.
when midian said to get the thread back on track, I do believe he said not the natedogg argument......
I've gotta say buddy, you're bang on the ahem, 'money' there. You make some pound, erm I mean sound points! At the end of the day, it's just a little less rifle-range in me sky-rocket. Movin' on.....
There is no "track" here. It's a concept that doesn't exist for a thread which is a literally a dumping ground for most (if not all) pricing arguments. The best you can hope for is a few laughs.
ITS all good im over it. I just had to blow off some steam. Thats the way it goes. If you wait even longer you will get it for a buck.
Shit happens. If you're frustrated to this extent over something so trivial you'll be dead before you hit old age. We need a mod to move all this BS into the Little Girls' Price Complaint Topic.
+1 Lord have mercy on these souls, especially that guy you quoted. LOL, YES OF COURSE I HAVEN'T BOUGHT THE GAME YET. I'M JUST HERE TO ADVERTISE FOR THE DEVS. Come up with some better logic. kthx.
I don't think you're the bad guy, I just think you need to calm down. Think about your blood pressure. We get that some people are annoyed and it's been plastered into this thread enough times for everyone to see, now we should get back on track. There are places you can discuss the pricing if you're unhappy about it, here for example: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=88443 Plus this:
