We're mad as hell about iOS games that cost money, have ads, and/or any IAP at all.

I know, right. It plays just like Final Fantasy 7, one of the best RPGs ever.

Uhm... are you playing the same game as me? The game is a turn based RPG like a final fantasy game. Absolutely nothing like Street Fighter or a fighting game at all.

But anyways I voted absolutely. Sure the game is a little overated (like the people saying it is the best rpg ever) but is still a fantastic game that you get your moneys worth and is actually fun. Also while there is some grinding but the battle system makes up for it and doesn't feel tedius like zenonia or inotia.

How is this in any way like street fighter?

Please enlighten me because right now I think you haven't played the game yet.

Or is this negative advertising because of your new job?;)

My response to the game: affirmative.

Btw, the design of this poll is the only way that Sarah Palin will become President in 2010.

Lmao @ this being compared to Street Fighter.
That's like comparing something like Pac-Man to Devil May Cry.

Oh yes completely. Also I wouldn't necessarily consider Zenonia an RPG It's more of an ARPG (action rpg) but yeah IMO here are the top real RPG's right now that are good for the app store market and for hardcore gamers as well

    1. Chaos Rings
    2. Final Fantasy 2 (I feel it is more modern (actually has talking characters to help the story progress) than 1 so therefore it is a better game for the more casual audience)
    3. Monster 2
    4. Doom 2 RPG
    5. Wolfenstein RPG

Honorable mentions would be FF1 and Inotia 2.

Or comparing Final Fantasy 13 to Oblivion (both great games I was commenting on how linear FF13 is while Oblivion is a sandbox game)

Hell Yes!!!! Aside from the rare gem every now and then dollar for dollar I get far more enjoyment and gaming satisfaction out of the increasing number of $7+ quality, premium priced releases I have purchased than I ever have out of the shipload of lesser priced so called "bargains" that I have either lost interest in and never completed or deleted because they were craptastic or so buggy that I felt like I had paid to beta test.

Completely worth it. Have Zenonia2, but not playing it now. Thought it was time to put on my big boy pants.

  13. I think he was trying to say that it's more of a fighting gamr than an RPG. The comparison to FF is probably not the most accurate, but I get his point.
    [//end argument]
Still don't know if I should get this...not sure if there will be a price drop soon...

    There won't, period.

I did that homework myself before buying this, but if you want to do the same, feel free.

Go to appshopper.com, search Square Enix, open all of their games in different tabs, check the price drops. Here's what you'll see:

Every SE game (except for Sliding Heroes) has had only 2 temporary sales:
    - Sale due to the launch of FF I and FF II (these were not included in their sale, clearly)
    - Sale due to the launch of Chaos Rings (1st time FF I and FF II were on sale and CR is not, clearly)

So, I can assure you that unless this game ends up like crap income-wise (and top grossing in like, 5 countries doesnt really reflect that), the only sale it'll have is when the next BIG SE title comes out, in which case you'll want to buy that one, not CR :p

And I believe the next SE game will be the original final fantasy game for iphone which will be 4 or 5 months at the earliest. Is waiting that long to play possibly the greatest game on the appstore worth 3 bucks?

How do you all think this game would be recieved if it was on the DS / PSP? Would it be 'AWESOME', or just 'MEH'?

The point of CR is that it has PSP/DS quality. i.e. it is awesome in any patform :p

While I don't have much experince I think it would be considered a very solid psp/ds game. Not great, but certainly not bad either. Of course, that completely blows away everything on the appstore. Also, the ds would no way support graphics that good.

The DS doesn't need to support graphics that good. I personally am disappointed with CR. After playing The World Ends With You on the DS also by Square Enix and released exclusively for that platform. I had so much high hopes for CR.

TWEWY > CR. For me anyway.

Agree that TWEWY is in a whole league of its own. However, its much more of an Action RPG. A better comparision would be Golden Sun trumps Chaos Rings.

That said, I wish they will stop making games like Hybrid and Caligo Chaser and do something like TWEWY.
