Hi, Frankly, I like that the developer is sticking to their pricing model. The race to $0.99 is just going to kill off a lot of small developers or send them to other platforms. Not something I want to see. I do not own this and I keep debating whether to get it or not. Now, if there was a one day sale, hint hint, I would jump on it as I would feel I was getting a great deal. The only time I usually debate cost of a game or app for my Touch are those by bigger developers. Usually, they are charging more at the start and have planned to drop the price after a time, but the smaller developers usually cannot afford to. The trashing of the developer and, for the most part, accusing them of price gauging customers is just silly. Like others have mentioned, three dollars. A value meal at McDonalds cost more and tell me how long that last. In my case, I have a wife and son that play anything I buy too, and that is something I factor in when I decide to buy something for my Touch. If it is not worth three dollars to you, you are the one who bought it. No gun to your head. I may get ripped for things written in this post and feel free, I have a thick skin. David
Canabalt is, without question, a very polished game. This is probably why the critics like it so much. However, considering the complete lack of features, and lack of variety in the gameplay, I wouldn't consider it a "quality" game. If you don't mind the repetition, and have a lot of imagination to fill in the blanks, I guess it's possible for you to find replay value. I played the game for a few days online, enjoyed it, played it on my iPod for about a week, and enjoyed it some more, but I eventually became tired of it, and it now sits in the back of my menu. So even you admit that the game is at least a dollar over priced. If he wanted an extra buck, he could have put a Google ad on the Canabalt webpage, or link to a Paypal account for donations. Implode is $1.99, developed by an independent group, and it's currently #4, and I don't see a single thread complaining about its price. I would gladly pay $2.99 for a game like that because it offers variety. Yes it is, and that's why I also bought Implode. You're very lucky to have an army of good reviews on your side... I had moved on too until someone bumped this friggen thread... I knew how barren Canabalt was when I bought it, but I was hoping that an update would be released by the time I got tired of its gameplay.
I don't know why you don't just request a refund from Apple if you feel you've been burnt this bad. Think how happy you could be if you could finally move on in your life.
Like I said, I did move on. You're the one who bumped a month old thread. And when I see something that I don't agree with, I post a comment on it. After all, this is an internet message board.
I just needed to make sure freedog saw the latest shilling, I didn't mean to reopen your financial wounds from the biggest purchasing mistake of your life.
That's ok! It's ok if you don't like it. Thanks, glad you liked it! That's ok, as I've said lots of times before- wait, all of these claims were from the SAME POST?? You are one crazy dude.
It's like sex. He likes it but only when he doesn't have to pay. Of course he will inevitably pay sooner or later because he knows he needs it, but he'll be complaining as he does it.
You stole his $2.99, Adam. (Even though he could have played the free version online until the 2012 apocalypse before determining whether or not it was worth 299 pennies of this week's allowance.) I believe some reparations are in order.
My post isn't as bipolar as you're trying to make it seem. In summary: Canabalt was fun, but only fun for a couple of weeks. LOL.
In the UK that's only 179 pennies. Maybe he should come live over here to the UK and the cost of this game would be easier to swallow.
At least as much as I've gotten from Doodle Jump ($0.99). It's also a very simple game, but there's just enough variety in the gameplay to keep me going back for more. I like the new bouncy shoes that were added.
neither side of this debate has moved on, and it's painfully obvious in this thread. so you're all idiots to me. now can i get some info on ANY update here? k thanks.
Well the people saying canabalt isn't worth 2.99 are comparing the 2.99 with the appstores ridiculously low prices. While the people defending canabalt are comparing it with prices outside the AppStore. So let's all calm down.
Seriously? How long are you gonna keep whining over 3 bucks. I never found canabalt interesting, so didnt even buy it. Even of I`d bought it and hated it, I wouldnt have wasted so many hours of my life posting in a thread crying for my loss of 3bucks. Or debating if it`s worth three bucks. With a fully working flash version available for you to try before you spend your hard earned 3 dollars(and some) on this game, you simply do not have any excuse to continue whining here.
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=693866&postcount=305 I don't whine. I only reply to replies. Almost all of my posts in this thread is quoting someone. To be honest, I barely care at this point. Yes, I regret buying Canabalt, but I have moved on. Like I said, I'm only replying to replies. You typed a reply, and I'm replying to it. Stop replying, and this thread will fall back into obscurity.
Not only did you miss the post with info, but it's also off-topic... this thread is about whether or not it's worth the asking price. No point in complaining when you could ask somewhere more appropriate like... the actual game thread.
