Yeah, quality and quantity would be great, it's just a couple of posts by freedog that said he thought most other $2.99 were a better deal than Canabalt... we all know how much rubbish there is on there so I can only assume he likes even the most bland and boring content as long as it's there. I don't think it's too taboo to ask for more, we'd all be happy to see an update. I can't speak for the mods but it seems Arn and Hoddap at least are more concerned with the shill and conspiracy accusations rather than the price tag argument. It's the way they're arguing about it, not the fact they're arguing about it.
well except doodle jump has always been a dollar. it knew what it was, it knew its scope and its limits and it excelled at what it did. as you've also already mentioned, it's been updated often(on a minimal basis of twice a month). something to definitely mull over in comparison to a game priced three times as much that offers less content and no support at all. and again, i just want news on any sort of update. the dev has posted since, but only made comments mocking some other poster or the thread itself...so i don't know if that's a good sign or not.
thats the whole thing, it comes off as the dev only wants to be cocky and fight off price wars, there was even a link from his website to a $200 iphone game. Here's the thread talking about it.... http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=32966&highlight=%24170 Almost every other dev who's game has been criticized for whatever has taken it the right way... asking customers what they would like, what ideas they have for improvement. They don't sit there trying to gather friends up to start arguing that the game is worth it when a large amount of people believe it doesnt have enough content. And why not answer any customer questions? The supporters all gang like a pack of wolves and basically say "how dare you say there's not enough content about Adam's game" "quit trying to draw up a conspiracy" lol um well there's not enough content sorry.
Who Posted? tsharpfilm 34 eeenmachine 28 freedog 27 MidianGTX 19 Hodapp 18 DaveMc99 12 dannys95 10 nodoctors 9 arn 7 da shiz wiz 19 5 Freedog.. why do you care so much about this game? You and T keep bumping it and then a few of us have responded to it. Where is your evidence than more than a couple dozen TA members think the game is not worth $2.99? The poll so far is evenly split. Why is such an overpriced game getting a 4.5 rating in iTunes?
I suppose I could say the same thing for you, why are you defending it so much? The thread asks if the game is worth it. If you didnt care so much you wouldn't have took the time to something like count everyone's post amount.
I am not defending the game at all.. I don't think a successful game that other people like needs to lower their price. Obviously if people don't buy a game at X price then it is time to lower the price.
still don't see how talking about the fact that a game has a lack of content for its price is a conspiracy. I guess thats Hodapp's Freudian psychology kickin in. lol
It was the part where you accused everyone of being the dev's best friend/lover/veterinarian and on the payroll. Edit: except me, I don't think you've done me yet. What's my excuse?
I think I've said this before but it's a pretty fun game maybe not quite in the 2.99 tier but there's no reason to fight over one or two dollars. All of you are crazy in my opinion for arguing over so little money. Just buy it or move on it's not such an unprecedented situation that this thread deserves so many views and replies. If I can say one thing though I would say I'm a little disappointed in the developer's seemingly lack of care for the community. Many devs kill themselves over trying to please their customers and this guy put his game out there and hasn't really done that much else that I know of. I also think it's strange how anybody who says they don't like Canabalt is flamed so hard. The amount of sarcasm and lack of respect by developers and leaders of this site in this thread is appalling. Let people state their opinion, if you don't agree with it fine but you guys should be above the people who have to claim conspiracy theories and shouldn't have to stoop to their level by completely disregarding their opinion and not listening to a word they say. With all that said, Canabalt is a fun game and I don't see the need for any content updates, though OpenFeint or some other type of leaderboard would be nice.
whoa where's your evidence man? lover? lmao the only thing I accused Ian of is being the devs friend which is 100% true admitted by him himself. The lover post was made by Ian if you look right to make fun of himself kissing the dev in an exxageration...not something i said
That's not the conspiracy. It's arguing that everyone who is for the game is somehow associated with it. Go read this again http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=692817&postcount=223 I find it perfectly acceptable that some people don't find the game worth $2.99 to them. But, I don't think they are all either buddies with the competitors or otherwise conspiring to bring down the game. arn
how many games does Ian do this for? this one and his own? The word conspiracy is a little strong. He is friends with the dev. I never said it was a conspiracy that was a word you guys chose. I am definitely not arguing that everyone who is for the game is friends with the dev. What I'm saying is that alot of people just don't think its worth it because of the lack of content. If you look at the posts I didn't attack anyone who said it was worth it, not once. Yet all you guys wanna talk trash to me because I say its not worth it? I only had one vote Arn the rest came from somewhere else.
