I'm not going to be able to get every post but if you want to start one about apps going back to paid go right ahead haha. Oh and my sig is changed now
I've been thinking some today and have decided why not hold a competition? Since I AM the FreeAppMan I think it would fit nicely if I held a competition where all you had to do is post an answer to a question or guess a number on this post and you win a gifted app from the FreeAppMan! The app would be a paid app but that lucky winner would be getting it for free! Let me know what you think in the comments and maybe what app I should give away.
@Superman I never said anything about a promo code And apparently he's not an important admin because he told me only Hodapp could sticky posts. Help me put and let Hodapp know this post needs to be stickied! I guess no competition though :/
I was letting people know that an app that was posted as being free today in a recent post was no longer free. Some of us actually read much or all of the threads, rather than just the last one or 2... So, for those that do, I hopefully prevented them from going off looking for a free app, that was not free.
I appreciate your hard work and everything you have done to be the "FreeAppMan". But to be honest, you do realize that AppShopper, by default, gives you the popular recent price changes? Not to mention the fact that oftentimes, it seems as if other people are letting you know about apps that have gone free. I hope no offense is taken when I say this, but I really think this post is really useless considering AppShopper updates considerably faster than yours. If you had the power of sharing with us free apps BEFORE they go on sale and beat out AppShopper, then this would be useful. But as of now this is kind of just a repetition of what I'm already seeing on AppShopper.
dude if you don't want the service then don't complain...it seems like you complain everywhere from the faad gold thread to this. as for the contest i'm all for it. Check out the doodle army thread to see how it works. Something like post once or answer the question and you get entered and then a best answer is picked for and .99 game?
I would do the contest but Superman isn't on my side :/ If Hodapp was regularly on the forum he would allow it and even sticky this post but he's not so I have to tread carefully.
Since when did people only accept positive feedback and ban negative feedback? Just stating my opinion, geez. Oh, and I wasn't really complaining. I even said I appreciated his work. I just felt that he should take into the consideration he's spending a lot of his own time doing things that computerized services can do MUCH faster than him.
@Tilt I understand your delima but as I and so many others have pointed out who has time to download 50 apps a day that have gone free? I post only the ones worth the download.
To clarify when I said "AppShopper, by default, gives you the popular recent price changes", that means that it only shows the best apps that go on sale or free. Now, I'm not exactly sure HOW they are able to know which games are the best (I'm guessing by sales, popularity, or how fast it gains in the free charts), but no matter the reason it still does the job you're doing. So.....:\
Why is this thread still open? We have websites for this. Hell I have an RSS Feed that goes straight to my mail for this.
@ Tilt - I think that AppShopper goes by # of downloads, and popular is by no means a determiner of quality. Some of the free games that never make the front page of AppShopper are far better than some that do. So, although I see your point, I think that having someone that is willing to wade through and give their opinion is actually pretty valuable, especially as Quantum seems to be pretty reasonable, and so far I have agreed with his assessments. For me, it is one more "tool" to help me wade through the swamp that is the app store...
I have nothing against you, so if you think that then just use app shopper. It's so much simple than arguing over a forum post it may be useless to you but even Hodapp uses it and that's saying something...
This thread is still open because it's useful and even the admins like it. Trust me there are definitely much more pointless threads than this out there. And if it was pointless why does it have 7200 views in 4 days? If you don't like the idea just don't read it Cheers!
Thanks for the clarification, pluto6. Well then, I guess keep up the hard work Quantum, there definitely seems to be those who can find use in this thread. Thanks for helping them!
