Pesky? They're still the best method of control available for gaming. iPhone, Kinect, Move, Wiimote, all great fun but all dilute the experience. If you want to remove buttons you have to make sacrifices, and besides, many iPhone games use buttons, only virtual ones rather than physical which has practicaly no benefits whatsoever and only goes to prove that some of the iOS's games would actually work more comfortably were they on a PSP instead. Anyway... MasterChief nailed it, there's a lot of crap on the App Store. I used to buy loads of it, but now I hold back for the best stuff and to be honest it's kinda rare. As for that 3DS debacle of a conversation... it's the follow up to the freakin' DS, y'know, the handheld that sold 136 million? More than PS3 and 360 put together? It's probably got more hype than any console release to date. Incidentally the PSP sales are around 61 million, also more than PS3 and 360. Yeah the releases might be fading out, but that doesn't affect what already exists on the platform. I personally use it for playing Phantasy Star Portable and all my PSOne Classics, which is a collection greater than I'll ever manage to assort on my iPhone.
Not really. The follow up to one of the best selling and most popular consoles in history? 3D without glasses? Over 90 games announced by more than 20 publishers and you don't think there's any hype?
I didn't say there's no hype. I just think it will be a lot easier to get your hands on a 3DS than, oh, let's say a Wii, for example. THAT was some crazy hype. Also, the hype is a bit tempered due to some lingering skepticism of 3D. As I said before, it has a solid lineup of launch titles, which really is necessary for a successful console launch these days. That's why I'm going to be getting one on day one. Basically, I don't think it's fair to say that the 3DS has "got more hype than any console release to date." Maybe it's just because I've just lived through so many launches in the 90s. Perhaps we're just each breaking it down differently. It will sell, I'm excited for it, but in my mind, not the most hyped console release in history.
It doesn't need proper controls, it simply needs games tailored to it's controls rather than trying to be something else. Just as psp should gave had handheld like games rather than games you need a ps2 to play and fully understand and have a better version on. Look at the ds and it's touch controls. No one talks any smack about that or reviewers don't rate games lower if they utilize touch inputs. Look at the new Mario vs dk game, and complaints some users have about it. Ut the response from other users and reviewers generally favor touch controls: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/997857-mario-vs-donkey-kong-mini-land-mayhem/56263341 Heck nintendo obviously still thinks using touch screen inputs is attractive and innovative and is constantly going back to it. So why should apple not do this and why would a game like amir vs dk not work on an ipad just as well or better due to a larger screen than a ds? It's not apples fault more indie devs aren't making Mario vs dkongs instead of fps games. And I don't think the stylus makes any difference and if you wanted to you can use it on an idevice as well.
oh i hate nintendo and all pokemon bs psp is allright, have some fine fps games anyway i prefer swipe controls
