Let's send out a search party. Look up 'kijib' on Google. STORY TIME -Rato- Icaris turned around and vanished between two large boulders. I looked back at the sea and sighed. The view was fantastic. The purple-ish clouds in the sky, slightly covering the sun that set in the horizon, with the northern lights behind me. I took out my compass again and looked at it. It was useless in this place: the needle kept spinning around wildly, as if it wasn't sure where north and where south was. I bet Icaris expected this place to be a desert filled with sand and venomous snakes, but this place was quite the opposite, but just as dangerous. It was an icy tundra, in which somewhere was a place called "Grassland station", a train station that led to another world which Icaris hadn't visited yet. I closed my compass, put it back into my pouch and ran after him. As expected, I found him staring at the snow with a grin on his face. All you guys are FATTTTT OMG. Throughout the trip, he had always complained about the heat of deserts and about it hitting a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius on a normal day. "I told you it was a desert, but I didn't say anything about being the kind with sand." He muttered a few words and a blinding light appeared, which started to take the shape of a large wolf. Then, in the blink of an eye, the light vanished and got replace by nearly black fur. Icaris jumped onto the saddle on the top and gestured me to get on. "Come on." He said. "He only lasts for 3 hours." I climbed on and sighed. "I hope his fast, because 3 hours really isn't that much." Icaris smiled. "He is just as fast as a normal wolf, or basically as fast as you, but since he's bigger, he should be able to cover more ground. You should be lucky. Before he only lasted 30 minutes." The wolf growled, and I'm sure that if Arcanite could have said something in his beast form, he wouldhave said something very rude. We set of, riding at a quick speed through the icy wildernis, when something caught my eye. On the horizon, I saw something green. It couldn't be grassland station, we didn't travel far enough yet, but as the strange man in the port descibed it, this place was supposed to be barren with no plants until grassland. "Go to the forest on our right." I told Arc. "There's a forest there in shich we could seek shelter for the night." Valhelm:I was in the top of a tree, lazing about and keeping watch when there were close to silent footsteps. I tapped twice on the tree trunk and Tarok came out, His dagger in hand and ready to fight. I put my finger to my lips and motioned for him to follow me, quietly. I dropped down onto the snow and silently made my way across towards the source of the noise. Tarok: I followed Valhelm, contemplating how we had met. It was in one of those crummy inns/bars when I had almost gotten mugged, but he came and saved me. An Elf and Nightling. Very weird. I still had some special glasses from one of my other adventures with and elf, so we used those to not make our presence annoying. His lightened dark energy, and mine darkened light energy. I went up into a tree to look down on what was making the noise, and it was a dark black wolf, and it had two riders. I spoke through telepathy. Valhelm, I know these people! I hopped down in front of the wolf. "Icaris! Rato! I didn't think I would be seeing you guys again!" BiC: -Icaris- I got of Arc and walked towards Tarok. "Hi." I said. "How long has it been? Two, three years? I doubt it matters anyway. Time flows differently in different worlds. So anyway, what are you doing here? And who is that?" I looked at the elf. "I am Icaris. Pleased to meet you. and this is Rato." I turned towards Rato. He glared at the trees as if they would turn into monsters. He even had his daggers in his hands. "Rato?" I asked. -Rato- I hesitated, then said: "Hi tarok, hi. . . Elf." Something about this forest seemed strange. It was as if it had an aura, although it wasn't exactly alive. But I felt it. there was something dark about the forest. "We need to get out of here, now!" I said. "He's right." Arc had turned into his normal form. "I am not sure if you can feel it, but since I am a spirit of the forest and Rato is practically half wolf, we can feel it. There is something dangerous in this forest. I can feel it's dark energy all around us. Icaris, release me, It is best if you save your strength for later." Icaris lifted his hand and Arcanite vanished. In that moment the snow under us gave way. BiC: Tarok: I immediately sent a discharge down onto the ground, not making it a solid wall, just enough to slow our fall. When we hit it, we were still going fast, but slowed down quickly. We touched the ground softly, and I went straight into battle position. On the balls of my feet, center of gravity low with my dagger in front of me. Valhelm had taught me some of the basics of Okansei, the type of martial arts he had learned. There were three entrances, so Valhelm and I positioned ourselves between them, both able to see the middle tunnel and one side tunnel. Valhelm: He learns quickly.... I thought, casting a sideways glance at Tarok before returning to my position. A monstrous screech rippled through the cave, and if it hadn't been for the special earplugs Tarok had given me, My ears would be bleeding. I saw a dark shadow pas behind the middle tunnel. BiC: -Icaris- A swift shadow moved across the tunnel in the center. I slowed down time and shot ten gears from the tip of my staff. I missed, which could only mean one thing: this monster was extremely fast. "A . . . Doll?" Rato said. I looked at him. Suddenly his face became nearly the color of snow and he collapsed. I ran over to him. His eyes were open, but they stared lost into empty space. I checked his pulse. It was very fast, a speed that could be dangerous. "That's not a Shioy." I said. "I studied a book of enchanted bodies and possessions, and Shioys don't have such powers. We need to leave right now." I put my staff back behind me, grabbed Rato with one hand and lifted my other, gathering all the air of the tunnels. Then, with a sudden burst, we all got thrown into the air. While falling down, I slowed down time and controlled the wind to blow the snow back into the hole until it was solid again. Then, I released the slow-motion spell and we fell at high speed towards the ground. I managed to land properly, but Tarok and the Elf didn't seem so prepared. "There's now way Rato would survive if we left the forest. Athough it's dangerous, it at least gives him cover from the snow and coldness." I gathered a pile of dry branches from the trees and placed them on the snow. Then I asked something that I normally wouldn't ask. "Can anyone light a fire?" -Winter- I walked across the icy landscape, my cloak pulled tightly around me, but even so, it didn't help very much. I was cold, tired, and hungry. The last time I rested was 2 days ago, when I had arrived in this strange landscape. I knew that if I kept still for more than a minute I would freeze to death, and I couldn't let that happen. I pictured my parents faces and thought that I might never see them again. I was about to give up the fight, when I saw something green up ahead. Shelter. With new found hope I ran towards the trees, not paying any attention to how cold the air was. It didn't even take 5 minutes, when I arrived at the edge of forest. I peered through the thick branches of a pine-tree and saw a group of people huddled around a bunch of logs. One boy with gray-blue hair desperately smashed two stones together, seemingly trying to make a fire. At first I thought about raiding them, but then I decided that it were best if I had some companions in this freezing place. I emerged from my hiding place. All of them were startled and drew their weapons. "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." I said. They lowered their weapons, but still seemed very tense. I walked up to the pieces of wood that lay there in the midst of them, took out to rocks that I had picked up in the last world and smashed them together, creating sparks. Instantly, I warm fire started. "I know this may be too much to ask from complete strangers who might need it themselves, but do you have anything to eat?" The boy with gray-blueish hair took something out of a pouch that he carried and handed it to me. Dried fish. "I get it." I said, my voice slowly rising. "Just because I am a cat, you think that I only eat fish? Ha-ha, very funny!" The boy seemed startled. "N-no that's not what I meant by giving it-" He started, but I cut him of. "It's okay, I'm sorry for my very rude behavior. For two days I've been walking across an icy desert without sleeping, eating or drinking, and I guess I just got a little cranky. I should thank you. If it weren't for you, I would have been dead by this evening. By the way, my name is Winter. Winter Tatsuko. And you?" He was about to reply, when my gaze fell on the pale creature that was lying next to him on the floor. "This isn't good. " I said. "That creature has the Metamorphosis disease."
