1991 alone: January 15: U.N. deadline for Iraqi troops to leave Kuwait January 16: Allied air forces attack occupied Kuwait and Iraq February 13: US accidentally bombs Iraqi bomb shelter, killing more than 400 February 23: Allied ground forces assault Kuwait and Iraq. February 27-28: Kuwait is liberated and fighting stops. March 3: Allied and Iraqi commanders meet and dictate cease-fire terms. The good ol' days.
i love that you complain about my location and how it is annoying that it's so long and because i love you i will shorten it a bit
90s TV was way better than 2000-2010. It turned into decorating, catwalks, mind-numbingly boring celebrities and Big f**king Brother. Oh, and talent(less) shows.
Yea, British TV has been a steaming pile for the past 10 years, the only thing halfway decent are panel shows, which are all really samey. And Doctor Who, if you're into that kinda thing. I hate to say it, but US tv FTW. House, Lost, Weeds, Dexter. We have nothing even remotely similar in quality anymore. Spaced was probably the last great series I remember, and that was what, 99/00?
I agree with that completely. British TV has gone all shite over the past 10 years. There's definitely to much of the celebrity crap like Big Brother, I'm a (ignorant, attention seeking, obnoxious) celebrity get me out of here, X-Factor, Britain's Got (no) Talent etc. And I agree that US TV has really been good over the past decade. And the sad thing is, many people I know are snobby about US TV when our own TV is absolute rubbish. The only time I ever watch live TV now is when I am at my Grandmother's house and I watch the US programs through Sky, mainly Dexter, CSI, Mythbusters etc and there are lots of good US documentaries too.
I'm not too big on US TV but I'm still pretty sure it's much better for genres like drama or action since there's a lot of it and we have... none really. I started watching House once but the formula repeated itself too much over each episode to keep my attention. I also want to get into CSI a bit more since I enjoyed the few I've seen, but the DVD boxsets are cardboard and I refuse to buy that shit. Plastic cases please.
Actually I was thinking about it a bit more, we're had a few good TV shows, like Life on Mars and Peep Show, but still not in anywhere near enough volume, especially compared to the rest of the crap.
i dont have a tv. tv is is an old outdated form of entertainment, which at the moment is full of shit. the few shows i do like i watch on the internet for free.
Peep Show is fantastic! A rare treat. We need more great British sitcoms, it seems most of the popular ones these days are taking their cues from US sitcoms, which have their place but I miss having a few truly good British ones.
Yeah, Peep Show is pretty good. I like some of the UK comedy/quiz shows like Mock the Week, 8/10 Cats, Never mind the buzzcocks, QI etc. Although they are all pretty much the same show but with different names and different people, lol. But I really hate soaps. I find BBC news much more interesting and less depressing. The only soaps I have liked have been Australian, and the only reason I like them is because I find them funny (especially with the aussie accents).
I'm the same, it's basically anything on Dave or a random nature/history documentary... or American Chopper, I'm not sure how I got into that.
1) Tv isn't a medium, video is 2) It's really not outdated yet. Printed press, sure, everyone likes to get their news online now. TV, not so much yet. The issue with TV, is no one is watching it live anymore. There has been no mass movement to online viewing as of yet. Interested to hear why you would think TV is outdated... it's kinda like saying movies are outdated
