That Shatner clip was excellent. @gunxsword - this thread isn't for me to decide what is weird or not, it is for you the poster to decide that.
One of my favourite songs from the album, which is a little strange in an of itself, but this song I found particularly fascinating and weird: (Courtesy of Balu`)
I really enjoyed that song - enough to check out the rest of the album in youtube. I wasn't really into the hard metal stuff I heard (not a big fan of metal) - but that song was excellent with great production and interesting cinematic instrumentation and orchestration.
Yeah I agree, the album is definitely of a different taste, even for metal, but it has a great, almost mysterious kind of sound to it. That song always plays in my head when I wake up in the mornings for some reason. Now that I know you aren't particularly a fan of metal-ish stuff, I will try and refrain from posting the weirder harder stuff. My next on the list to show you though, would be this interesting piece of work (slight metal influences):
Searching through my iPod for music that is "weird" or that I at least would think other people might find weird. Honestly, a lot of my music would be considered weird to people I think, but even this one I find very odd. Even for MM.
Wow I love that Septicflesh sound! Gotta listen to the whole album now... One of my favorite mathcore albums (and songs) *Edit: BOOCH! Why aren't you visiting the Metal Thread!?
Septic Flesh is extremely amazing. One of my favourite Sympho Death Metal bands. I also like the the band is made of up a bunch of Greek Choir Boys (couldn't tell from looking at them, or hearing their music ^.^) Mathcore is an interesting form of "Weird" music. Some I like, some I don't. Sometimes it just sounds like they are just trying to hard. But I guess that's the beauty of it. I did visit the metal thread! haahahah
I have mad respect for Mr. Bungle - that other song was excellent too, nice bluesy overtones with the lead guitar. As for metal - it depends on how it is presented. I find the heavy distorted and compressed guitars present in metal music to be very confining and best used atmospherically almost like a whammy bar dive or an effect. An example would be Peter Gabriel's Darkness:
I like the Gorillaz - you into Blur or any of Damon Albarn's other side projects (I love The Good, the Bad and the Queen).
My favourite William S. Burroughs track (backed by the excellent Disposable Heroes of Hiphopricy) - this is one of my favourite early 90s hip hop albums.
Not a weird song, but a rather weird (and helluva cool) concept for a band photo... Ghost vs Trivium!
Here's a song from where I'm from. Some of my older family members actually speak like this! Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Excellent tune - reminds me of East Coast Canadian music, was surprised to find it is Somerset based.
