There is a patapon clone on the app store right now. I remember reading about it on a website, but unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the game or the website. THINK, brain, THINK.
I am thinking my hardest, and searching every iPhone related site I know of. I'll report back if I find anything.
Found it - 'Mevo and the Grooveriders: Galactic Tour' Not quite the patapon clone I was thinking of, but it is near enough to patapon. It is a bit different as you are in control of one guy, not loads of patapons and you aren't trying to defeat another tribe, so not really a patapon clone which I thought it was. It looks fun anyway. Actually, I kinda fell for this too. It isn't like patapon at all. The guy just runs while you tap out the beat with 2 (only 2!) buttons. If you mess up he stumbles. I beat every level on every difficulty without even getting close to loosing. Kinda a letdown... Maybe there'll be a closer game someday.
I'll point out that Loco Roco was not unique in gameplay at all. And it did not hold a patent on "round" characters. There have been tons of previous games with similar looks released prior to even the announcement of the first Loco Roco game (Gish springs to mind). I'll also point out that visual resemblances aside, and the "tilt" control mechanism as well, Rolando is a very different game than Loco Roco.
THANK YOU. I have been saying this for ever! Rolando is similar in the fact that you roll a ball shaped character to the other side of the level, but as far as gameplay goes, it is completely different.
Heh, maybe something like Knights Onrush with music and a beat! Oh, or maybe a new PocketGod 'patapon' update where the pygmies battle pygmies from another island! Hmm....
Contact Gameloft and tell them that you want a Patapon clone. Maybe they can make it happen, because otherwise, ain't happening.
LET'S DO IT!!!!! Hurry everyone! They could have it out by the end of the month if we hurry! haha jk. I guess I'm semi-satisfied just playing both patapons on my psp. But if a good game that was kinda similar did come out... I'd get it in a heartbeat!
let's try I played a lot of Patapon 2 this weekend when I travelled to Gamescom in Cologne with a friend and decided that I want to try making some kind of Patapon clone for iOS - But don't expect this to be out very soon or even to be as complex as the original. I did some Flash games a while ago but never really coded anything in Objective C / openGL... Anyway, will keep you updated if I get any further...
our only hope will be gameloft. i mean they made Halo for iphone, they can maby do patapon. i also enjoyed that game very much...
