Moderately. You definitely need to use em wisely. You were watching Paladin gameplay, correct?

So the short version: With Wayward Souls, IOS finally has its Dark Souls

The long version? Well Wayward Souls may not be comparable to DS in some ways, but they do share other elements. From the start, Wayward Souls is a challenge. You will die many times, as you face foes of all shapes and sizes and abilities. This isn't a hack and slash; timing and smart positioning is key to survival. Limited magic and gear makes each use a tactical decision, weighing the best angle, the best target, using now or saving for a potentially worse fight around the corner. And like Dark Souls, clearing an area with a sliver of health left through your own skills and smart use of magic and abilities feels so rewarding.

Each class feels decidedly different and unique, each requiring a different finesse to master. Your decisions and honing of your playstyle doesn't end with choosing a class. From choosing between what gear to forge, what skills to upgrade, what magic you collect, your skills and abilities could vary significantly between playthroughs. Along with the randomized levels, this makes every new attempt feel like a fresh new challenge.

But any impressions of Wayward Souls would be incomplete with mentioning the visuals. There's a level of polish and charm here that makes exploration a joy. Flashes of lightning in the castle window. Hanging lanterns swinging when you bump into them. Stylish magic effects. The myriad enemy designs. The controls are equally polished, responsive, and free of excessive buttons; not once have I died due to some control issues.

Hype is a curious thing. On one hand, we have 111 pages of following development and anxiously counting down the months, weeks, days till release. On the other, hype can result in disappointment, when something so anticipated can't possibly live up to the expectations.

Polished, finely tuned, charming, challenging, Wayward Souls justifies the hype

    Good luck to LousyHero.

As for me, I gave up the idea to take part to this challenge (I am number 9). Too bad, it would have been fun to have the stress associated with the discovery and mastering of a new game.

I've given up long ago, just trying to hold my nerves and patiently wait until Thursday which is two days from now. GOD DAMMIT TIME DOESN'T GET ANY FASTER.

    Haha, good!

To me, you can describe this game two ways.

Cardinal Quest 2 + Mage Gauntlet

    Or

    Dark Souls + Punch Quest

You didn't know which position you were. You just wanted to have the game faster.
In my case, by knowing my position, I knew that I had a slight chance to have a shot. Plus, I saw this contest as a good way to deserve a promo code. I don't mind waiting for a game to be released. What pisses me off is to be close to participate to something great, but I know it won't happen.

Enjoy this event people because you can.

^ awesome review bud! That's what I was hoping for. I love reading reviews during this time of stress / anxiety hehe. I can hardly wait, I feel like a 5 year old fat kid waiting in the stoop for the ice cream truck to honk on by. Boy oh boy am I excited.

The level of Polish seems fantastic, Eli's twitch stream today was intense. He died about 100 times, which is awesome. Games are to easy nowadays. I like to hear most people won't even reach the final boss. This is a game I shall actually complete.

Since the content doesn't seem to be moving, it's safe to say we can calm down. Us unlucky ones will just have to wait. In the mean time, let's have our fun and continue commenting about the game / how excited we are ^.^

Well it's my bed time. Good night world

I praise the sun daily, have all platinum so for souls games, but dislike when people compare games to dark souls, or any games that aren't in the same series actually. Wayward is great in its own right, the only thing you can compare it to is Mage gauntlet :/

I know what position I am vaguely, probably around #15-20. I never said anything about the contest, I'm just hyped. Very hyped. Days drag along and I get very impatient with my games after other people have already played it. It's a brilliant idea, this contest thing, but it's just 1 and a half days until release.

My first reaction was overzealous. I totally agree and understand you can compare games to other games :)

I've seen a lot of people compare games to dark souls as why they aren't good games, so now it's a bit of a sore spot haha. But I take back what I said as I wrote it in frustration!!! If this is comparable to dark souls then it will be the best game for ios yet!!! HYP

Just finished my first run. Played the rogue and beat the first dungeon. I thought i had killed the boss in 20 sec, but apparently i was off by a few. So its been answered already, but gods yes the hype is justified. Going to keep trying on the challenge so we can keep this thing rolling, just wanted to jump in here and let everyone know that I've got my MLG jersey on and giving it my all.
