Should be fine, it's pretty close to the iPhone 4. Programmer runs the game on his iPhone 4, and he says the only time it isn't 60 FPS is when there's a visible sky. We may just do something about the sky. I think the iPod 4 was really similar in strength to the iPhone 4, someone correct me if I'm wrong. We probably won't have 3gs support for Wayward Souls.
*rant start* You mean you won't have support for my 5 year old device?!?! I DEMAND you include support for my prehistoric phone! *rant end* I kid I kid. This wasn't a slight at older gen. owners, only poking fun. Can't wait for this, Kepa!
BEHIND THE SCENES INFO: We actually were going to do 3gs support, but it was a huge mess. This was due to all of development being done with retina devices or iPad in mind. The old screens are just too tiny for the art style (see: Mage Gauntlet).
I've always had trouble understanding "support" vs it being able to download on a device. I have a 3gs will I be able to download and see if it runs?
Unless they explicitly make it so you can't (OpenGL requirements, iOS Version restriction, device restriction) sure you can download it. Support, however, means that they can't guarantee it will run well or at all, and probably won't actively work to see that it does.
I have a 3GS, been waiting for this game for two years.... When I heard the news I felt like crying lol.
We probably will explicitly make it so you can't run it on a 3GS, sorry. On our end, it wouldn't be worth the "this runs like crap" emails we'd get. We'll be working on a PC version right after the iOS version is out, though. Also Android port, if that helps. Besides it running horribly on a 3GS, there's weird texture issues. Also, the rooms were designed with bigger screens in mind, but the resolution on a 3GS is still really close to the character, like in Mage Gauntlet. Enemies tend to see a little further too due to this, so you'd end up getting pelted offscreen a lot on top of everything else.
Will there be a freebies / sale of other titles at launch? Got some stingy friend who refuses to pay full price for any apps, regardless of my peer pressure!!
None planned. I can't remember the last time we have a sale. Our usual deal is we maybe do a reduced price at the launch of a game, then never have a sale again. I think the only exception to this was Hook Champ, our first game. There was also Punch Quest, but that actually temporarily went up in price. I'm not even sure if we'll have a release sale for Wayward Souls. It took a long time to make, and I don't think there will ever be another game quite like it on the platform. But maybe, still have to figure that out. It'd be a dollar off if we did that.
I would gladly pay full price, especially with all the extras planned if the game does well. It looks bad ass!! And a full price premium game is 1000x better than all the freemium gimmicky titles out there, I am soo gonna make it through to the very end hardest mode!! Mark this post
I always liked the early adopter sales. Not so much for the discounted price, but i enjoyed the little extras that came with being an early adopter. Usually something like an exclusive hat and/or pet. I hope you all do something like that, but I'm buying no matter what as i always do. It's a good feeling knowing there is a devloper on ios that i can buy first day everytime and never have buyers remorse from it going on sale two days later. Not to mention they are always great games.
Don't worry about that guy. He's obviously a douche. In no way was anything you said offensive or rude to anybody. He's just feeling like a bully behind his keyboard because he probably has a really pathetic social life. I loathe people like him.
