    the one from apple store
i never died while playing smt(only time i died was when i let myself killed to go back to a savespot where i missed something), and i completed just 90% of the side quests 'cos the game startin to be way to easy. the key was -everytime i run into bad guys that gived high amount of exp. to stay in that area untill i level up my characters, this helped alot.
edit: i had 160-200 attack with every character, i farm the best weapons from some high level enemies +had the best weapon from the game. 70h arent few when you kill grups of enemies in seconds with your two characters close to max out level and four high level demons on your team. and i always play games without searchin/readin faqs -this is the charm, to discover all the stuff by playing

in smt or ws? in smt never. in ws i died once or twice at the golden boss 'cos i reach with no ammo and health on the limit

Ah, you were playing an earlier SMT, I'm assuming the first one? Grinding definitely helps, yeah. You may have actually missed out on some difficult content, Atlus loves to put in really hard stuff for endgame.

Sorry for not making my question a bit more clear, lol. I meant in WS. I asked because you don't have nemesis, which is just for dying to a boss with 4 different characters.

the only thing i miss was one side-quest -you had to free a girl(she was one of my partners girl friend), i didnt free her from the demons 'cos that would put me on the law side and didnt wanted that):

in ws i died once or twice to the golden boss -didnt had no ammo and had the health on v limit

    Game Impressions

Ok, so after playing this for a solid 2 weeks I thought I would share some impressions, just because it feels like i'm in the minority here...

I'll start by saying that i'm a huge Roguelike/Dark Souls fan, and I bought this game solely because of the hype and the fact that Punch Quest is my favorite iOS game ever, and I can't help but feel disappointed.

I mean, it's pretty fun and well-made, and the music and mood is fantastic, but I feel it really lacks in a lot of areas. people speak about the unprecedented 'depth & variety', but i'm just not seeing it. :(

Levels all feel very samey and kinda dull, despite the random generation. The "secret" rooms are all very obvious to the naked eye. Enemies also feel very samey, with most of them being similiar-looking humanoids that just swarm at you. How about some traps, special random encounters, mini-bosses, npc helpers, merchants and such? After playing on and off for a couple of weeks, I already feel like i've seen it all and it all just feels very monotonous for me at the moment, with no real incentive to keep playing.

But my biggest problem is with the lack of feeling of flow & progression throughout the actual levels. The random forges don't really feel like significant enough upgrades to the default weapons, and a lot of the secondary powers feel too flimsy to be of any actual use. Also, it feels like harder levels should have more powerful, higher tier upgrades.
Also, having to pause the game to use the special potions is a bit unwieldy and breaks the flow of the game.

Overall, the game just didn't grab me like I hoped it would. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but maybe I just expected too much. :)

    Does anyone feel the same?

I also don't like the fact that secret rooms are obvious, you can see them on the map/screen, so you know it's there. They should use the paitings/candles/Books to hide secret rooms.

oka-mi you have described a number of things that have been brought up earlier by others including myself, and like the awesome devs that they are, rocketcat (see Kepa posts) is adjusting a number of things in their first update which is due in the very near future!

The upgrades will be getting a once over, a few abilities changed, content added, and thats all just in update 1 of like 3-4 total. Other updates have been said to include pets that help in combat and endless mode.

Personally, I am most excited for the upgrade changes, as It makes me so sad when I find an emberforge and after seeing the options have to skip it. :(

Btw, Kepa, I think I pinpointed the problem in my last few runs: I died shortly after upgrading (warrior, run with duskhander, run with bane of bones) and the reason why was that after the power attack, I was so used to the normal weapon that I would start to charge again, but be rooted in place for what seemed like ages.
The main solution will be your stamina alterations, but another idea occured: Either allow charging while moving (reduced speed?) and/or alter one if the mage skills to increase the potency of charging , like 7% per skill point, hell that could even be her team/ult passive gift thing!

I'm a big fan of each class having a certain passive upgrade/skill thing that really exemplifies the class: like the berserk for the warrior I suggested earlier. ^_^. (Thanks for being so involved with the community btw!!)

    Sorry for long post!

tl;dr Updates fix things, ah-ha moment

any reason why an update just with the new dungeon hasnt been submitted? who needs all that changes to the characters... many ppl beat the game with all characters, no reason to change anything that regards the characters in the first update since you can beat the game using just your normal and power attack ... is not like we get a new character... nothing left to do after i beat the game. have tons of gold and cant spend it ... the gameplay is not even fun anymore since all the dungeons are so easy ..
give us that nightmare dungeon -_-

^ I like the idea of getting the more balanced characters sooner.
It is taking longer than expected though.
But the game will be that much more awesome.

Just like I was happy to wait for the game, knowing it would be better if they spent more time on it, I'm happy to wait for the update. One of the great things about iOS gaming is randomly seeing a huge update for a game you had really enjoyed and moved away from and getting right back into it.
I'm looking forward to the update... Patiently.
I'm guessing not a lot of people have "finished" the game even yet anyway.

you can beat the game using just your normal attack +power attack with any character, and all the characters startin weapons are v good, is even more fun and challenging playing this way -i don't see no reason to change the way characters are right now -except 1-2 things theres nothing to change
i want the new dungeon, is not like the update adds new characters -that for sure would worth the wait

I'll have more fun with the various forge upgrades balanced better, giving more useful options. And with more balanced characters.

i beat the game using just my attack and power attack -no forge upgrades, no scrolls -just some ammo. you can beat it with any character this way and is more fun, more challenging -most of the fun is in the game dificulty level and the curent dungeons are not that challenging at all -at least for me
if you want fun and a challenge then play this way
edit: you want better forge upgrades to make the game easier then it is? thats fun?

I'm just saying that's your opinion (which is okay) and I would have more fun with more upgrades to choose from, more variety.

No point in arguing more, we're just repeating ourselves now. :p

I'm quite sure that most of the people who have purchased this game have not actually beat the third dungeon, at least not with every character. I also don't think the motivation behind the character changes at this point is really to make the game significantly easier. It sounds like the Warrior may actually become less powerful.

I also don't think, in general, the notion of fun is altered that much between being able to beat the game and repeatedly failing in the third dungeon. I have the most fun in the second dungeon, personally. You insist this game is easy, but what are you comparing it to? I don't think I've ever played a game with the same sort of gameplay engine that was anywhere near this hard.

Sounds like you must not enjoy very many games. This philosophy rules out almost everything remotely similar to this game except Mage Gauntlet.

There are some games when I think a player-imposed restriction actually augments the playing experience; this is not one of them. For the best example, look at the Adventurer. His main thing is that a number of his upgrades allow him to copy aspects of other classes that he doesn't start with. He's not a fully realized character if you take those choices out of play.

So does this game have an over arching story? Or is it just level after level?

if you are not that skilled dosent means the game is hard, is it just for you. all the characters are very well balanced since i'm not the only one that beat the game with all classes. i have fun when a game is challenging -easy equal boring, hard and above hard means fun and great replay value. and you can beat the game without scrolls and forge upgrades! this means the game isnt that hard. theres no need to make changes at characters since they are all equal balanced. i just want a challenging dungeon. i completed the game with all characters and i tried alot of tactics -gives me the right to have an opinion -and i'm v sure all the classes are v well balanced and dosent need changes, at least not in the first update -since everyone got used to the characters curent playstyle -and ppl who complete the game only want new dungeons
edit: if you didnt beat the game with all characters then do it and after that you can say the characters arent balanced. why a person who havend completed the game even starts to argue ... if you had been a beta tester why the devs should trust you when you can't even do the job to beat the game and see whats good and wrong

You have an opinion, You seem to think is fact.
People that can't beat the first dungeon and say the game is very hard have an opinion too. Because you've beaten the game with all classes, doesn't make your opinion more worthwhile. In fact, the majority of people on the thread seem to be in disagreement with you about the difficulty.
That aside, RocketCat has a lot more invested in this game than any of us do. They'll do what they think is right and I fully support them in doing it. Pestering them isn't going to help anyone. If you're done everything in the game why not just move on to something else and have a pleasent surprise when the update comes?

i only said the characters are v well balanced, and thats a fact.
a dozen of ppl completed the game just the way it is right now -if they and i could why others can't? the game should get harder by adding more mixed enemies, more traps and new stuff -not changing the characters and adding stuff to make it easier. and we should end this 'topic' here
the devs will do what they think is best to improve the game.
