You mad bro? You keep posting bro? You don't like the game bro? Why you checking this bro? One shot kid, POW!
Would someone like to fully explain/spoil the story? From what I gather : Spoiler Baron Amranth comes from a distant land where they worship the sun goddess Diasunne. He goes on to marry Mariel who is a mage and lives in the south. Their marriage causes a bit of tension on both sides. They get two children - Leo and a daughter whose name I can't remember. Here's where things get fuzzy : Muriel - Baron's wife dies The mages ask to dig underneath his keep for artifacts Some sort of conflict happens over the artifacts Baraon's daughter is sent as a convoy to smooth things over She returns sick Baron does some sort of spell/blackmagic with Diasunne to keep the souls of those who are in the Keep trapped
Just farming some coins in the mines. Those of you who say the Mage is way hard and can't beat the first boss with her. Just proof, you can do it! After you beat the first boss a few times it's a breeze. As you can see, I took absolutely no damage. (Love my star-painted wizard hat )
Pretty sure Leo is Amaranth's first name, and Amaranth and Mariel only have one child- Sophia. Spoiler Sophia's got powerful magic, and there's big conflict between mages and nonmages. Mariel is the ambassador between the two groups, and it's suspected that she's poisoned during her trip. She dies. Sophia skips class one day and finds a bunch of artifacts that are stored for further consideration (the head of the artifact endeavor is Archivist Banes, who I believe is Abbie's grandpa). Sophia finds a mask and puts it on, but it's cursed and she becomes ill. Amaranth says daily prayers to Diasunne, which keeps the mask from taking over Sophia, but does nothing to stop the mask from cursing the tower in general. When you defeat Amaranth, the mask is allowed full reign over Sophia's magically inclined body, allowing him to take over the tower that was built on this ancient spirit's domain from long ago. There's a ton of stuff I missed, but there you go. Hopefully that's all correct. Maybe Kepa can clarify/elaborate?
Finally beat 2nd dungeon with rogue Anyone else find the rogue really hard to win with? Easy to play, but just about impossible to win with for me. Finally killed the Baron after failing enough times to max out every stat but 2 (energy cost and dash confusion length).
Rogue is probably the hardest character to play with. For me anyway. Strangely enough, she's also pretty much my favourite. On a good run, when everything goes just right she feels invincible. Second boss coupled with his warriors is intensely difficult for me though. Only character I haven't beat the second dungeon with.
It's a room from the upcoming fourth area. Every once in awhile, it can sneak into the general rotation. And yeah, there's a bunch of new enemy variants that can get generated. Mostly in the fourth area, but you can see them sometimes in normal rooms. Like the miners that shoot 5 or so pickaxes at a time, or the winged gargoyles. We're going to try fixing the sensitivity on iPad first, and see if that helps. Then we can consider buttons. I hate buttons if they go over 3, is the problem. 2 are fine, 3 starts presenting problems. They have a very short visual indicator that they're about to attack, too. Mostly the best strategy is, if possible, always stay diagonal from them. Yeah that's by design. We made it so people can't do both a power attack and dash in the same energy bar as Spellsword, so you have to quickly decide. Personally I just mostly use dashes, unless I get his upgrade that makes power attacking take slightly less energy. It's a nerf combined with some buffs. We're just going to make the changes, then get feedback afterwards. If he becomes too weak, we can either make his offensive abilities even stronger, or restore his shields back up to where they were. Yes, I believe that's the whole story. Brandon would be better to ask story questions to, though, I'll get him to check the thread. Rogue is a little weak right now compared to other classes. She's getting some buffs in update 1, and likely some further buffs in update 2. Really I'd prefer Warrior, Rogue, and Mage, and Adventurer to be about equal in power. Equal-ish. Not caring too much about perfect balance here. Oh and I didn't nerf Adventurer's shield, after thinking about it. In fact, in update 2 I might just buff his lanterns to have 9 charges instead of 6? Not sure yet...
I think once the up/down swipe is fixed on the ipads, buttons won't be needed. Most will probably agree with this but only after they try swipe when it's actually working as intended. At first, I was against the idea, but now that I play the game, it's awesome to not have any controls visible and the movement controls work really well, considering. I'm mostly holding off for the patch to play the game, but I won't lie, I think about it daily, which is unusual for me. I've only so far beaten Humphrey with the mage. The hooks do not usually sink in so deeply, but I think it's because this game is quite compelling.
Spoiler As Ashflow mentioned, Leo is Lord Amaranth, not his son. He just has one child: Sophia. I think you're confused on this issue because of those letters in the tower which are from Amaranth's parents, who we never meet in the game, not from the parents we DO see, Leo and Mariel, to their non-existent son. Spoiler Banes is also Mariel's brother. I also probably am missing a lot of cutscene info, but it seems like Sophia was cursed in some regard BEFORE she put the mask on. There's a cutscene where she's talking about something promising to bring her (Mariel presumably) back and in those bits her face is altered from normal in the same manner as Amaranth's is. So, I think somewhere there is a more elaborate explanation for why the mask came into play.
I'm guessing Spoiler after she found the mask somehow, the mask promised to bring back her mother and she was overcome with grief enough to believe it, and ended up putting it on and thus unintentionally letting it possess her. Maybe first it was powerful enough to curse or have limited brainwashing power on her, and convinced her to put it on for full possession.
2nd dungeon as spellsword I ran into the no boss glitch. The end starcase was right next to a doorway and I didn't even know it was there till I ran into it
I finally beat Humphrey!!! I know not a big deal for many here, but big for me I'm a casual gamer with only bits of time here and there and was t sure if this game was right for me. This is easily my most played game since launch and I'm motivated to continue to the next dungeon and to play with other characters. Game is so much fun!
Spoiler That would just about be my assumption too, but one wonders what the broader nature of the curse is. For example, Amaranth is cursed yet lingers in the tower for the purpose of keeping the mask in check. He's also--I guess--some sort of dead person by the time the Imperate people get there, but it seems like the paladin didn't expect that, so it's not like it was years after the other events that that happened. It seems like the mask wouldn't have deliberately endowed Amaranth with any sort of ability to sabotage its own resurrection. Until you get rid of him, Amaranth appears to be in charge of all the chaos in the tower, so it seems even if the mask is at the heart of it all, it isn't really at liberty to benefit from it until Amaranth is gone.
Even after 100+ pages the Dev responds to concerns nearly instantly... I think I would be okay with the controls if the swiping on my ipad 'worked' reliably, in every other way the movement and such is spot on. I eagerly await a patch, the game is so good I think I will hold off on playing it until then.
If anybody wants a visual aid on how to play the classes, or just wants to watch a catacombs run, I've started a playlist of all the characters going through the gold dungeon. Adventurer will be up in an hour or two. Spellsword should be up later tonight, while Cultist will be uploaded tomorrow. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFPBgDLBDWX1PbYxKVAaOKw/playlists
Spoiler It seems however that Banes was planning some kind of mutiny as well though? What's up with that? I think you need all the characters to fully understand but I don't see myself getting the cultist any time soon
