Beat the gold dungeon with warrior last night...epic music pre-boss and rather anticlimatic battle but I am not too thrilled with the cultist yet besides her story. I killed Humphrey easily but Amaranth is a bit tricky. Any tips for those who have progressed far with her?

Use your invisibility move before entering most rooms. You get a lot of them, so you don't need to worry about running out. You can use it to sneak into a group of enemies and take out one or two of the most irritating enemies immediately without much danger. If you find the Belt of the Trickster, this will also stun the other nearby enemies, giving you more free backstabs. If you don't, you can also use your blinding move for a similar effect. After that, you can retreat and throw knives, or run up and stab anything that's not particularly dangerous at close range.

As for Amaranth, I don't really have any advice, since I just used four Ebonshards and let my shadow army do most of the work for me. Throwing daggers seem to be pretty effective, though.

I must suck at this game. I put in 20 hours and I only got to the mines with wizard and only upgraded his stuff and he's not even fully upgraded. I must be doing something wrong. This is frustrating.

Also are there games like this that are RPG but not rogue like so I can continue progress or at least level up my character? Thanks!

It's not you. Succeeding at WS requires obsessive dedication. So much so, I'd say it's more a cruel test of patience and endurance than a game. It's not made for people with lives.

Right, it's made for people with one life. :p
    But seriously...
I grew up with NES and beyond. I'd say this game is roughly as hard as those old retro games. Closer to the fairer ones.
But the really hard thing is surviving an entire dungeon.
Learn how to fight the enemies. Get the permanent upgrades. It is possible. You can do it eventually. ...Maybe. :p

Why do those who bash the game continue to post / read the thread? If you don't like the game, than go away. This is for people to talk about the game, discuss strats, & share photos ( secrets/hat)

The comments where people say the game is terrible, old school looking crap. Need to rethink there hobby as a gamer. I know everyone has there opinion, but if your a person who enjoys gaming. You would enjoy this gem.

It's a challenge, and a wonderful one at that.

I'm not so sure about that. To me, it's actually extremly fair. It just doesn't make it easier on you for the sake of the platform it's played on. I agree much more with Intendro, as I've too compared the difficulty to old school early 90's games.

I get the feeling that Oscar's forum posts require some obsessive dedication to make. More a cruel test of patience and endurance than any sort of meaningful opinion. Definitely not the sort of posts made by people with lives.

Sorry couldn't resist this one time

Finally beat the tower with the adventurer!
So now I only have to beat him with the rogue & the cult. ( don't have cult yet )

Haven't attempted the third dungeon boss yet. Only played a few times & got to floor 4 & 5. I'm coming for all you who have beaten the 3rd :p

i have some questions about the warrior auto-shield... i allready get used to attack once or twice then quickly swipe to activate the shield -so how will the auto option work exactly? it will be activated just when you take a hit but the rest will be just the way it is now? didnt played with warrior since i beat all dungeons with him(that happen second day after i purchase ws) 'cos i've mastered his play style and i try to learn other characters too
i personally like the action, i'm not really into this auto style... is like makin the mage's wind auto-blow when the enemies are gettin to close:)
how about the intro boss? tried to beat him like 40-50 times...is stayin on my nerves... always kill the knights without lossin life and keep all the ammo for the boss but his health bar is too crazy^^

^ do what I did. Beat the second dungeon with l the classes excluding cultist and by that time you'll have learned each class pretty well. You should get further & further on the catacombs.

Just wait for the fourth area! Hehe

    20 floor dungeon of hell.
