Yes. It was in the 2nd dungeon, around the 5th or 6th floor. Was in my last room with nowhere else to go. Ended up that the stairs were placed on a wall. Didn't realize it until I got close and climbed into it. Weirdest thing was that was the end of dungeon 2. Unlocked Spellsword and opened up dungeon 3. Glad I got the new character, but felt dirty afterwards.
Cultist down. The Belt of the Trickster is really useful; you can enter a room with it on and take out a whole cluster of anything short of an Eximius or Temerator without any danger of being hit (unless an Insidiator pops out of nowhere while you're attacking). That's it for the third dungeon, I guess. Time to quest for hats and upgrade money until the update.
I am really liking the mage now. I have big isues playing other characters now (including the warrior). I now can do the second dungeon quite easily with her. The third is still too hard but i am making slow but steady progress (level 4 reached). The key is to remain very mobile while the ennemies are attacking and to hit just after. Her normal attack hits very hard. The charged one is also great to pick ennemies from a distance. I have issues with her upgrades : - staves upgrades are often detrimental. I only pick the silver eyed (critical increase) but it is not that great - some tomes upgrade are very good (earth and ice) - i find most robes upgrade completely useless (save for the earth ones). Most of them have very short range (which you really don't want as a mage). I end up almost never using them. Any advice on this?
The Silver Eye and Salamander's Breath are the only worthy upgrades for staff. Both Earth and Ice upgrades are good. Lightening upswipe attack is very powerful. Fire upswipe isn't horrible.
Thanks for all the support! I especially like the screenshots and videos! I'll be occasionally checking the thread and responding to questions at random. Otherwise really busy with the updates + Death Road to Canada work. The bosses are ghosts, they just repeat the same thing for eternity. I kind of want to change that though, it does get repetitive. We plan to tweak/add to the story in the big third update. Your paladin speculations are accurate, last I checked. The hat description just uses the same description for when you find the hat as the other heroes, so it's kind of weird. It is. You can get all the early adopter hats from chests, eventually. Rogue will probably get some buffs in the second update. I think the other characters are mostly fine (ESPECIALLY WARRIOR). The rare story encounters are just random, any characters can find them. They're rare, but I don't think they're one-time. They were going to have effects when it was a Free+IAP game. We decided to just cut out the system, for time. Might do something like this in another game, because adding it would also require a smarter inventory system and etc. Will look into this, we always forget. It happens if you try to charge up a shot, but don't have enough energy to use it. We may change this. We'll probably tweak the Saint Statues. Maybe in update 2, if not then, update 3. I want to make it so they carry over to the next level. They'll be a money sink. They will offer a few items you can buy with your gold. It'll be limited how many times you can use them during a run. One of the things they sell will be health potions, I think. There will also be an early one that sells a single extra life, is the plan. Whoaaa No, the true sequel to Mage Gauntlet will continue Lexi's story. It will be an open world game (like Zelda), but procedurally generated. We may start work on this next year. It happens. Update 1 will fix some (hopefully most) of these bugs. It's just due to the random generation of the levels. hel ya
Finally picked this up this morning, and having a blast! I have a question though. Is the boss Amaranth during the intro with the paladin beatable? I died against him and haven't replayed to try again yet, but I've been wondering about it.
haha don't know if i'm the first who got 5 medals with one character but for sure i'm in the few ones will love to see in the future updates more secret rooms and more secret mini-bosses that drop very rare hats and lots of coins
In an earlier post Kepa said he's basically unbeatable, but that they might make him beatable in an update.
It's technically possible but he has so much health and deals so much damage that it probably isn't worth trying. An update may hit to make it more possible, along with the reward for doing it will be a little better, iirc.
I have five medals with the Mage, Adventurer and Rogue. Still need to get the upgrade medals for the other three.
This game has really changed the way I game on ios. I'm no longer short-burst gaming, instead I find myself playing this for hours at a time. It's freaking awesome. I seriously cannot wait to beat the third boss, I'm so pumped for the 20 dungeon floor 4th area! // hope they continue making content for awhile.
RocketCat has that effect. All their previous games are great too. The $5 I spent on this saved me a fair bit of money. I doubt I'll pick up any games from the release this week even. I just wouldn't be playing them until I'm done everything in Wayward Souls.
Talk about putting the player on edge. This game is HARD. Third dungeon is killing me. Game is still fun. Just gets annoying dying a billion times.
I've obtained both Humphrey's and Baron Amaranth's hair, which raises the question: is the final boss's mask an obtainable hat? It definitely seems like a good idea to wear that mask.
