Finally beat the 2nd boss with the Warrior. Need a break from him...suggestions on who to start using/upgrading? Leaning toward the Mage. Tried the Spellsword for a bit and just doesn't seem much range to him. Meaning not really a complex character. Thoughts/suggestions?
My favorite character is the mage, my only gripe about her is that she can't shoot diagonaly. She pretty much helped me understand how this game works because of all the dodging I had to do. She was first character I managed to get to the 2nd boss (I havent defeated him with her yet, but I still managed to do my 2nd best run with her ). You should definitively try her.
^ Spellsword I think is 2nd best only to the warrior. The shield is the warrior's most powerful skill. Sounds like you don't like him so that's fine. My 3rd favorite character is the rogue. I think she's the most fun to play. Most of your game will consist of leading enemies away one by one and dashing through them to backstab. The rogue excels in one on one combat more than any other character but is completely horrible for mobs. She requires probably the most skill to play (though I do think using the mage is the hardest).
Let the boss hit the knights while you run around. Also attack and if you think you can't run, pull up your shield. Just make sure you have shields in stock before you battle. The shield basically makes every boss battle easier. When I fought him though I didn't use the shield too much because I ran around the map and let him hit all his own men until I saw a good opening.
Thanks for the tips guys. I guess it really amounts to: keep playing and you'll figure it out. Which is one of the many strengths of this game - no shortcuts. Last time I faced Amaranth I ran out of shields, so maybe I need to be a little faster on my toes.
The second boss has a small amount of health and he is easy to dodge. Just run around the side and spam until he attacks
How do you guys deal with the mines in the third dungeon? Several runs of mine have been ruined by corridors of mines, and just in general they're really annoying.
I got killed on the eight floor again bluellama I just watch for them and use my shield when it looks suspicious, but when I'm fighting a horde of stupid thorns theres not much you can do
Is it me or the charge and normal attack of the mage deals same damage? I really wish the charge attack would deal 1.5x than the normal attack.
How did you feel when you beat the 3rd dungeon? My heart was about to pop out of my chest I think! What a sense of accomplishment!
It actually deals less damage (with the standard staff, anyway). It's mostly useful if you want to hit an enemy that's particularly far away or damage a cluster of enemies at once.
I'll give Spellsword another go. Just felt like he was one dimensional. I guess the variety of pick ups you get make up for that. Thanks...
OMG yes i felt so shocked and happy i got the cultist but i feel like the bosses are easy. I get more annoyed by the monsters than the bosses especially that annoying one that appear behind you and tries to stab you. Btw it's either me or the story got less and less as we progressed. No more story
So, uh, I got stuck. I also finally beat the 3rd dungeon with the warrior. Beat the boss on the first try using the hourglass trick. Loving the Cultist, I beat Humphrey on my first run with her. She feels way better than the Rogue.
A lot of the story is told, in game, randomly. You'll walk into a room and hear ghosts talking or bump into other characters. Much like some of the rare mobs or mazes. Sometimes you see them. Sometimes not. You can learn how the pigs/boars got in the dungeon, back story on amaranth, See some of the Seige of the tower, all sorts of things.
I tried just about everything I could, I was still stuck. I ended up restarting, I think I was only on like the third floor so I was probably gonna die anyway. I just thought it was funny that I got stuck like that.
