Man the 2nd dungeon is freaking annoying me. I get to like level 5 or so and just lose my sharpness and or get lazy and it ends up getting me killed...
Nice game, I was at first not convinced about the rogue style, but the game is fun. The music is great, beautiful, but the game is not letting me stream my own music or podcast. Please, consider to enable this on a future update, thank you.
It seems that the Rogue isn't as bad as I thought. My biggest problem before is that I was too reluctant to use items, when she gets so many of them that you can use them in pretty much every dangerous situation you end up in. The final boss died in about 5 seconds, thanks to an Aged Hourglass and Shadowtwist Elixir.
In some rooms you can actually avoid alerting all the enemies to your presence at once, assuming there are enemy groups in different places. In any case, stay away and blast them. And kill the big slime-spawning ones quickly... also, it seems those don't spawn more slimes unless you are close to them.
What a great feeling it is to beat dungeon. The randomness makes playing with new characters fun. I would love multiplayer though !
Still enjoying it after a few days of play, even if I'll clearly never get the controls to respond precisely enough for the heat of battle. (Not a flaw of the game--just not a situation a touchscreen excels at.) So I tend to die from the character not doing what I intend, rather than from making a mistake myself. A couple questions: Is it intentional that sometimes you are immobilized when charging a shot (Mage on iPad) and sometimes you can move? Humphrey always kills me because usually as I start to charge a shot, I can't budge, and he gets a hit in. And then I still can't move until I release the shot, which means I can't aim where he actually is. But it doesn't always happen. Seems to be the timing of how you use your left and right hands. Bug? Or intentional and avoidable if I play right? Second... am I missing something about the statues that grant speed/boosts? 95% of the time they only show up by the exit, after you have already cleared the level--and the boosts don't carry over to the next level. So how can you use them? TIA! Thanks!
If you don't have enough energy to use a charge attack, charging will not let you move but your energy will recharge slightly faster. Speaking of which, I can't tell for sure if it charges faster if you keep charging when you have enough for a charge attack... maybe by standing still? ...No, I don't think your energy keeps charging fast when you have enough for a charged attack. Two things I noticed: The adventurer can't attack right after using his default lantern (down swipe). He holds up his sword but doesn't swing it. If you use it and stand still the lantern's effect stays longer. (I'd guess that other lanterns work like that also.)
Got to the eight level of Fallen Kingdom, literally killed every mob, walked to the exit, and got killed by a mine.
Ouch. I had a less infuriating version; it happened on a much earlier floor. I killed all the enemies in the room, then I think I grabbed some gold, and *boom* "Slain by an Exploding Mine." As opposed to a mine that didn't explode? I noticed they actually turn visible when you get close. Very close! But they are still camouflaged by the dark ground, and they can be in rooms with enemies which you are trying to focus on fighting. If you are running in one direction when you step on one, you can escape the explosion. Barely. Turning diagonally right after stepping on one can result in getting hit.
After days of playing and only picking up four hats I've picked up three in one session! Is there any pattern to how the hats appear or is it completely random? (And apologies if this has been covered already but I'm not wading through 125 pages of forums posts!)
How are folks beating the 2nd boss? I'm having a tough time even with warrior. Seems that his melees are out-meleeing me. Can't get close enough to hit him and escape, and worry about everyone else in the room. Closest I came was with the mage, but then consecutive dash attacks did me in. I'll pout for about 5 minutes, then get sucked right back in again. Very addictive game.
The only "flaw" I think this game has is that your character doesn't level up/earn xp per run (like in say, Heroes of Loot), so there's no reason to go kill guys if the stairs pawn right near you. Not much "risk vs reward" because coins are not necessary for a good run, plus there comes a point where coins won't be needed. Plus, you're almost guaranteed more items than you need. But this does do a lot of good, by making it more balanced etc. Not necessarily a flaw, but something I noticed.
Spoiler You must move sideways to get out of the way of his dash and giant sword swing. After he dashes, I think he won't swing his sword until the end of the dash's range, but I'm not entirely sure. He can also decide to perform a non-dashing swing if you are close enough. If he does a short dash, he's doing three short dashes in a row! Dodge them all! Hit him after he stops. Maybe a couple times. Then get away just to be safe. Either get him to kill the enemies or kill them while he's teleporting. Or do both. Try very hard not to die.
Same here, I need some tips. I've tried totally avoiding the knights and getting a hit in here and there, but I only last so long with that strategy. Edit: thanks Intendro. Do you use charged shots or just hit him however you can?
I mostly used regular attacks but charged attacks might help to dash in and hit him. I'm not sure if charged attacks do more damage... some of them do, at least. (And (most?) of them break those knights' shields.) The adventurer can get a sword like the warrior's from those forges, which says it has a stronger charge attack. I guess the warrior's own sword does too? ...Well, I just killed a specific enemy with one hit instead of two normal hits.
I see--I didn't pick up on that. Thanks! The reason it only happens to me sometimes may be that I have sometimes "upgraded" my staff to one that needs a FULL charge. (I find most of the staff upgrades are harmful rather than helpful: you seem to lose a lot of range and need more energy, in trade for fairly minor benefits.) P.S. I tried the Warrior a little and WOW is it a lot easier to smash stuff and get gold! I think the Mage's little "kick" has too small a hitbox--it's like every smashable has just a few pixels target (and you can't tell where it is) so I'm constantly jockeying around trying several times to smash each object. And since gold is the only way to progress, smashing things is vital. Compare to the warrior where if it looks like you're going to hit something, you will! Gold collecting is far easier. Maybe I should have started with the Warrior, but I like ranged combat. Too late now, I've upgraded the Mage a lot and will stick with her!
As the warrior, I simply stuck myself in his face and kept on hitting him until he attacked, then I whould block (i had the obsidian shield so I didnt feel the need to dodge ). When he would jump, I'd block his dash attack and repeated what I did above. I managed to beat him on a rushed and reckless run that I did before going to sleep (I wasnt expecting to reach the boss and even less to defeat him ).
