the way I beat Humphrey whenever I'm not the rogue is just go close to him, when he raises the hammer, run to the side and spam everything. then repeat.
Couldn't wait to get home from work today and fire up the iPad for another attempt at the first level. I finally beat Humphrey after encountering him for probably the tenth time since I bought the game. It was really nice to try (try is the key word) the next level/dungeon. Made it to the fourth floor and died by one of those disappearing, stabbing guys. It's quite a drastic and refreshing change of scenery after playing the first level for what seemed like an eternity. Anyway, just wanted to share my small accomplishment with you all. Happy hunting! P.S. - Congrats to cloudpuff on beating him before me. I read your post yesterday and figured I'd give you a virtual high five while I was on here.
It gives you very little initially. You have to use coins to upgrade the amount of health it gives you.
I have to say, I thought the story was pretty non-existent or bare bones but after getting to the 2nd area boss, I have to say I'm surprised where the story is going. It'll be short for sure but the intro story plus the 2nd boss story makes some for some interesting stuff. I loved all the ghost reflections in the tower. The only issue I have that ruins the immersion is that all the bosses talk on a script. Meaning no matter what the other characters say, they still say the same thing as if your own character has no affect on the situation. Makes everything seem fake and robotic. I wish this could be changed so your characters actually TALK to the bosses. The warrior sums it up best when he says "ARE YOU DEAF?" And I was thinking the exact same thing. All the bosses in the tower are deaf. Anyhow, aside from this, I'm really stoked to play the Paladin eventually. He seems to fit in perfectly with everything that happened. Btw, some speculation that could be wrong about the paladin: Spoiler I wonder IF the paladin you play later on would be the guy inside the secret room on the tutorial level? I mean in the story technically, the Paladin was killed trying to stop the OP boss. So the only other knight that survived was the coward that hid. Maybe he'll come out and realize he needs to avenge his comrades? Or maybe I'm wrong. However, I like the Paladin's profile image the best over the other guys face. Maybe he'll end up picking up the Paladin's helmet. Masks are the best However I do wonder why in the tutorial the Paladin's helmet says he found it. It's not his?? That doesn't make much sense to me.
^ Great! I'd love that one. Too bad my rate at getting hats is 1 every 4-5 hours, sometimes longer. My 2 favorites are one that looks like yours except there's a sun in the middle (looks like the helmet you see after the 2nd boss battle). That one looks awesome. The other I like is a Rook helmet. Looks like the heads of those guys that try to ram you
If you think you can't dodge a boss attack, that's the best time to equip a shield. Also before entering a room better equip a shield to block surprise attacks.
I'm pretty sure that description is just there to reference the intro scene, since you can find that hat in rare chests. It doesn't really make sense if you read it during the intro level, though.
I've been playing a lot, I haven't beaten the second boss but I make sure to always complete 100% of dungeons. I get one every 15-20 chests if seems. Not the wooden chests, the silver chests. I've only ever encountered one gold chest ( rarer than silver that has a 100% chance for hat I believe ). I've been pretty lucky I guess. I get them every hour or two. I love the new brute hat though, also love the mystical Mage hat & the Indiana jones hat.
I can finally join "the club"! Also, whoever (WooHooII, I believe) said to bring an hourglass to the third boss is awesome. Hourglass is so OP there, I would have gotten the "20 seconds to beat a boss" cheevo if I didn't already have it. Looking forward to fighting him 'honorably'. Random musings: Cultist is sweet, haven't played much as her though. Have 64 hats atm. Wish I could have been in the pre-launch contest to have sped it up a bit. Loving the game. Warrior is indeed easy mode. Looking forward to finishing up other characters and the updates. And more hats, of course. Haven't maxed anyone's upgrades yet. Loving the game. Rocketcat hat is hilarious, and Spoiler Cyril Hair is actually confusing to wear sometimes. Love the mix of old and new hats (might acquire all the early adopter hats before the problem's even fixed...). Conclusion: loving the game.
I have no idea how the odds are on these chests, I've been through maybe hundreds and 5 are from the big chests and 2 from the guaranteed chests. Makes me expect to not get anything everytime I play.
I like how you can just find the various characters' hair in chests. I found the Hassan hair while playing as him, so it gave the option to equip my own hair. I also found the Blythe hair while playing as the Adventurer, in the same run that I obtained the shield and Giant's Knife from forges, apparently just to complete my transformation into the Warrior.
Thank you, and congrats to you too, what's your plan for the second level? Fingers crossed it doesn't take as long lol. It's great to see that some of us who were struggling have beaten humphrey
