I am the happiest man on Earth. I just beat Amaranth Keep. BTW, the Spellsword is amazing.

Finally decided to get this. It's a lot of fun although I'm not very good at it.
How do you get hats. I can't find any.

I decided to play as wiz but I now I think I made a mistake

Wiz has three big desadvantagens instead of one: low health, attacks cost stamina and attacks go straight instead of picking an area.

Not to mention the warrior shield is good against bosses, so is the thief dash.

wiz its definitely the hard mode.

They are random, rare drops. You can sometimes find them in chests, but if you find a silver skull chest, you will definitely get one.

    Amen brother!

If anything, maybe even make it a little tougher! I played and played and played until I finally finished the game, my heart was beating like crazy, about to pop out of my chest the first time I made it to the last boss. I died, threw the phone on the couch and told myself I was done playing for the day. 10 minutes later I was at it again! If the game was easy, it wouldn't invoke those kind of feelings, it's precisely what makes this game so great.

Don't like the difficulty? Go play something easy like devious dungeon and have a walk in the park with no feeling of accomplishment.

Uh... I think someone else said this happened too...?
Second area, no boss! Just going to the right then down into the exit. The exit in a hallway shaped like an upside-down L. No boss room.

But I did encounter the boss on a previous attempt with a different character (and lost).
I had no boss with the Rogue class. Guess I should try that again... Unintentional cheating. :p
So, I guess something needs fixing with that.
I'm afraid I'll randomly have it happen again after barely managing to get through an area.
I think I went to a different app briefly during that run... (Well, I'm not sure if it was that run...) That wouldn't have anything to do with it, would it?

Yes, they are randomly obtained like other hats, early adopters just get them immediately.

(Except there's a glitch affecting some people and they aren't getting them from the early adopter thing... I haven't gotten them either. The developer said they might get them available for the early adopter thing in an update.
This shouldn't affect them randomly showing up like normal, though.)

Thanks ScotDamn & Orange Can! I'm
Definitely 100% not into button mashing games! I'm leaning toward getting this game as I have a long flight for business tomorrow and think this might be fun/a little frustrating.

It seems as if it offers enough variety and not being a button masher makes me feel better that it has either strategy or at least understanding the enemy and strengths of our character as being essential.

I'm definitely debating between this and hit man go which seems to betting crazy praise from gamers on iTunes and a mediocre thread on TA.

This is pretty much dark souls for ios. I love this game. It also got me back into mage gauntlet and other rocket Kat games. They are becoming one of my favorite ios developers, along with ravenous and vlambeer. Buy this game. Casual and hardcore alike. It's simply fun...

Finally reached the end of the thread again, lol.

    @blue rocket
Nice collection of hats! I see you have the veil of azure sands (or a hat that looks like it), that was my favorite hat from Mage Gauntlet! Do you happen to remember where you got it?

I agree with and second this, 100%. I think the difficulty is just right, but all opinions should be and are welcome, except the insulting kind, like moshfosh's--joke or not.

I totally agree. I wrote this for a opinion piece on why roguelikes are fun. It applies to Wayward Souls as well

I feel you man, i own both demon's and dark souls, and it just hit me why this one's called souls too lol. Roguelikes are fantastic, and while some are balanced better than others, once you change that fundamentally unfair randomness, mit's not a roguelike anymore, and you've destroyed the essence of the game.

Here's maybe a dumb question: I tried Dark Souls a while back and couldn't get into it. But I really, really love this. Is it worth me giving Dark Souls II a try?

What was the specific reason why you didn't like dark souls? It's crucial to the recommendation, cause this game's got nothing in common with dark souls aside from both of them being action games.

Also, no such thing as a dumb question.

Edit: im gonna go ahead and assume the actual soul system, (how you lost everything if you died and didn't recover your body) may have been maybe one reason. That's still there, it's the risk/reward aspect of the game that makes its fans like it. However, i did hear that apparently some enemies don't respawn after you die, and that makes getting to your body after death slightly easier. Hope maybe that saved a post. Otheriwise, i heard dark souls 2 i almost identical to its predecessor, but i gotta admit i haven't played the second one.

Well I was asking because it seems like a lot of people are calling it the Dark Souls of iOS and I thought maybe my tastes had changed since then.

If I remember right, the main thing that turned me off Dark Souls 1 was I was always just kind of confused what was going on a lot of the time and it seemed a little...too complicated? Is DS2 at least a little more new-player-friendly?

I don't think so. I remember i was also kinda frustrated first time i played it. The problem with dark souls (that demon souls didnt have) was that you could accidentally wander into an area that you should't be able to beat at a certain level. Some people, myself included, found that aspect fun. Constant danger around every turn. I think that based on the reviews i read, it stayed very similar to the original in that regard, but again, i haven't played the second one.

The fact that people are calling wayward souls the dark souls for ios shows a lack of familiarity with the two games, but those kinds of comparisons are popular among casual gamers who don't know what they're talking about. They're both action rpgs with a medieval dark fantasy setting, and both games are very hard. Thats it though lol.
