One potion lets you stay in stealth for 10 seconds even while attacking (duration modified by gear upgrades), another puts you into stealth for a couple of seconds but breaks when you attack, one gear upgrade puts you into stealth at around 5% chance per dash. I'd say stealth is a bonus rather than a primary mechanic for the rogue. Disables and bonus damage to disabled targets is creamy.
I also would like to add I like the controls the way there are they just need tweaked on the ipad for sure. I don't think it needs virtual buttons at all. by the way is there a rough number of how many hats and spells are in the game?
Absolutely amazing Really, really great game! Im having a ton of fun, even though I haven't even survived the mines yet. on my 7-th try now
Anyone know what "confusion" does for the rogue? It says the first time I dash through an enemy they're confused but when I dash, nothing happens except me going through them. I put some money into the extension of confusion but for now it seems like it was a waste. The rogue's kick stuns people however when you forge the kick into something that's not a kick, it no longer has the stun ability which is disappointing. So after getting that upgrade I was immediately disappointed.
Game Impressions Just some impressions after playing a little: The controls are horrible, for the love of god at least add some on-screen buttons, swipe controls have always been iffy at best. I have nothing against hard games but at least implement a difficulty curve. Let players learn a little before destroying them! This game's difficulty curve is like running face first into a circular saw (i.e. Non existent) Wayward Souls reminds me of Dungeons of Dredmor, both are pixel grpahic roguelikes that look super casual but actually have a punishing difficulty. Unfortunately Wayward Souls has neither the charm nor the comlexity of Dungeons of Dredmor to keep me engaged. I want to like this, I really do! I played the hell out of Punch Quest and yes I bought all the stupid little hats and belts to support the devs and I've looking forward to Wayward Saga (as it was called then) since it was first announced, its a shame it turned out to be such a supreme disappointment.
...or maybe you're just mad that you're terrible at the game and want to vent your frustration instead of admitting that you suck.
I think the 'invisible controls' work really well, the dpad on the left works fine for moving the character around. Swiping various ways on the right works well, i'm not normally a fan of swipe and would prefer buttons but if youre having invisible controls then you cant really have some button 'zones' on the right, swiping works far better. Its obviously gone through a lot of playtesting and beta testing and i think they've done a great job. Of course you cant please everyone though Great news its selling well, as the other poster says its shows that premium priced games can sell well and you dont have to go freemium all the time.
There is a difficulty curve, it gets harder. But it really isn't that hard at the beginning. Just try a little and you'll get used to controls as well.
I knew someone would still find the game unsatisfactory. I hope then sometime an update can fix you up for Wayward Souls. As far as difficulty is concerned, i am really having a blast with the balance here. The boss fights even remind me of Monster Hunter, where you have to learn the enemy "tells" and patterns to even take out half of its HP. All gameplay, and zero pay2win.
I've also found it very hard in the beginning cause I started out with a rogue which wasn't a good idea cause she is very reflex and player skill based. After that I tried the mage and boy the enemy shred me into pieces on floor 1! Had a good laugh on that As soon as I started the warrior it was much easier so I took many runs with him and learned the enemy mechanics, get some gold to skill up my chars, etc.. It became easier and easier with every run I did. Starting with the rogue again was easier than the first time and I was able to rush through the mines in one single run on my second attempt with the rogue. It's like years ago where games weren't forgiving like today. Also there is so much to see in this game. You just have to look close at it. I just destroyed a lamp and saw some glow worms slowly flying away. I didn't even saw this in my first couple of hours into the game. There are also many sidestories which are randomly showing up. Saw one in the mines after like 20 runs in there which I didn't saw before and I bet there are many more.
Nope, I'm positive the level of randomness is not the same for each character. I think the number of certain enemies also can be higher or lower depending on the character. Warrior will get more physical enemies while Adventurer, for instance, will get more magic enemies.
Warrior: EZ mode. Been maxing out the Rogue but have been struggling with Amaranth. Tried the warrior for the first time and ate through the mines AND the keep boss in one go. Amaranth in under 15 seconds. Rogue sure is good training though.
Here's how to beat Amaranth as a Warrior: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Spoiler Go all out beast mode while spamming your shield. Hopefully you didn't have to use too many on your way up to him! This boss is a walk in the park if you have Drakefire Grease. You'll have Amaranth down in 10 seconds. Totally imba!
Man, glad I'm not the only one. Many runs last night, but I can't make it past the third floor yet. So maybe that's why I haven't seen any hats or health potions yet. I am not good at this type of game... But it's never too late to learn! Just hope I get a hat eventually.
Yeah. Also on iPad mini Retina and having trouble with swipes. Otherwise, while I haven't had many hours to play the game yet, it's mind-blowingly awesome so far, and it's the type of game that sucks me in within the first 2 minutes (basically unheard of).
