Sure thing man. Head right on for some hot tips. Some of the strategies I've used are applicable to the entire game in general as a warrior *Spoiler alert spoiler alert* Some general strategies Spoiler - "Kite" or lure enemies from one room to the other before room door is closed. Stand close to the door that you feel it might close on the next split second. You may try flinging your axe at the enemy, luring them and picking them off one by one. Doing so increases survivability as you have more room to avoid projectiles/attacks and not getting swarmed by enemies. - The attack pattern/timing of each enemies are different so you will need to be familiar with how they throw their attacks on you. Always shield up when you know you are about to get hit! - Try doing combo attacks i.e. attack -> *hold on your right thumb* -> charged attack. Then avoid getting contact with your enemies whilst your energy regenerates. Rinse and repeat. Enemy/Boss strategies pertaining to the last area (that I find annoying/hard to deal with) Spoiler - Tormentor (I might be wrong about its name. The red, tall dude who raises fallen minions and melee attacks when you are in close counter): Pick off some other minions first and he will start raising the fallen guys one by one. Try to focus your attack on him while he is doing so. This will cancel his action. His melee attack timing is hard to predict at times and he hits real HARD. - Stealth-ed assassin: Run around and lure him to attack you. Shield up when he drifts out from the dark. - Mines: Yeah you read it right. See those concealed red coloured flashing things? Shield up! - Boss: He's... IMO a pushover lol. Attack patterns are akin to enemies in bullet-hell shooters where they shoots projectiles in a circular motion. Just position yourself right to avoid the projectiles and shield up when you find it hard to avoid. Stock some shields (I had like 10 heaviest shield) and you should be fine Equipments I've picked for the last area Spoiler - Magebane gloves: To help deal with annoying magic projectiles[/*] - Stonehack(?): Can't recall the exact name. It's the hardest hitting axe that will take up your energy bar on a charged attack[/*] - The heaviest shield (can't recall the name either, lol)[/*]
Whoaaaa How's Cultist? Edit: Also, really solid tips. Waiting for people to share good strategies for the other classes, too. They all have strategies that aren't immediately apparent. Not exactly sure what the problem is for hats. If nothing else, we'll have some way to give people's hats in the first update, I think.
Haven't get my chance to try her yet. Just started my day at work (I woke up and thought it's a great morning to push my luck and... TA DA! So freaking relieve to have not run into one of those hell rooms). Can't wait to push my thumbs on her after work!
I've been using the questionable strategy of repeatedly trying (and failing) to beat Amaranth Keep with everyone except the Rogue (none of whom have been given any upgrades whatsoever), then immediately giving their money to the Rogue, because I really want to see how effective the Gifts are. Once I get the Rogue's gift, I can finally start actually upgrading another class and getting somewhere with them.
Wow, annoyed! So I suck with the rogue for some reason, anyway finally used her and had a nice collection of items saved up to whoop on Humphrey, beat the ever loving shit out of him and killed him in like 10-15 seconds, the game hard crashed as soon as he started blowing up!!!! No achievement, no win! First crash I have experienced so far... And I've got some serious hours into it!
Thanks for the tips! I have been using some of them, maybe I rush a few things causing me to get hit more than I should... Will keep trying though!
I'm not enjoying the narrative and writing as much as in Mage Gauntlet, but the way the story snippets are presented (through a combination of random encounters, scenes re-enacted by ghosts of dead miners and soldiers, short still frame movie sequences at each new floor, and some important encounters with relevant dialogue) is a really nice vessel for storytelling. And yeah, since the story is interwoven with the dungeoneering and rogue-ing, there is more than I'd expected (and especially quite a lot for the genre, if WS indeed belongs to any genre. Tons in the context of roguelikes, less when put next to Secret of Mana and many action-RGPs). But no matter the amount, the story is fragmented, portioned, and only served in very short snippets. As I said above, truly cool, but less ideal if you are looking for story-intensive passages. And the narrative doesn't seem to have any bearing on gameplay, and there are no relevant choices I know of that affect the outcome of the plot.
I thought to unlock the final gift upgrade, you need to unlock all characters first (and each one of their upgrades), not just all of one characters upgrades. If I've been doing it wrong I'm gonna... well I don't know but it wont be good.
Just bought it, And decided that to play it later on.. Am i gonna missed out if i play it after a couple of updates?
Is there a difficulty level associated with each character? I feel like things are harder with the Spellsword. On the first dungeon I usually kill less than 100 monsters, with the Spellsword the number raised to almost 200... with the Warrior, most rooms are fairly empty while with the Spellsword sometimes there's a dozen monsters going at you.
