I don't mean to pull a "humble brag" here but one thing I didn't mention in my Endless Shadow run post, is that on floor 999 my heart was beating at about triple its regular rate. I had decided somewhere during the run to quit on floor 1000, since my goal was really just an absurdly high bar to set on the leaderboards. Actually, I was deeply in debate whether to quit on floor 1000 or 1001. Do I say "I made it to the 1000th floor!" or "I beat 1000 floors!" Sure would hate to say "I beat 999 floors!", it just doesn't have the same humble-bragging rights attached to it Luckily I never got a chance to make the decision. I walked down the stairs of floor 999 and the game ended. The feeling at that moment was pretty unique, and one that is probably not usually evoked by playing video games. The best part? That didn't slow me down from playing the game at all, I still play it constantly and I'm basically starving for the Paladin update lol.
Damn, got wiped on 16th floor. Too many slimes that wasn't even fair. This game is evil... And I am going to give it another run.
First I got beaten around everytime and thought I would never beat the first level. I persisted, learn the moves, build up my skill and Eventually I overcome it. Then the second level. It was even harder and the boss is a pain. I lost the count of how many times I have lost. But, once again, I somehow prevailed. The third level. Man, that was crazy. The difficulty has spiked exponentialy. I never thought it would be possible to clear it, since I am not the most skilled gamer. Death after death after death... but there was that magical run when things were great. Then I finally beat it. After some time I got much better at it without even realizing it. And now, I have finally beat The Labyrinth. Man, the feeling is awesome! Thanks, Rocketcat, for the great experience! This game is really a gem and it is really rewarding to learn from my mistakes and getting better each time. Even dying is fun most of time. Wow, just wow.
Thanks! Now I have only 5 more characters to do it, plus The Paladin level. It is going to be a piece of cake... lol It is going to be fun trying, though. And then there comes DRTC which has some evil achievments. I don't think some are doable, but who knows.
You forgot the Gauntlet and Endless mode Death Road's achievements can be down right dirty, like the Omega Streak. After almost 50 hours on record, I only have 50% of them and haven't beaten Kepa mode yet.
Thanks for reminding me. Lol I just died on 19th floor with the Mage because I became overconfident. Damn, it was so close. Time to try again. Hahhahaha Omega Streak seems impossible, honestly. I had already a hard time trying to beat the normal mode. No luck so far. Hope things get different on iOS.
You basically just summed up my feelings of satisfaction as you progress through this game. It's too bad you really need to invest time and "believe" in the game before you finally "get it". Not a game that you can turn someone onto while they look over your shoulder on the bus, but what a rewarding experience for those that truly give it a shot!
I agree. I invested a lot of time and deaths with emberforges to maximize what I can do with a character. Learning to use forge skills that you're bad at feels very satisfying once you "get it". I'm still bad at some forges, but it's part of the reason why I still play it to this day. With Death Road to Canada putting Rocketcat into the PC gaming map, I really hope that Wayward Souls PC be well-received by many. I myself can't wait to finally play it with physical controls!!!
It's so good to know that we share the same feeling. Sad that so many people dismiss it because they feel it is too hard, much alike I did in the first place, when I thought I was never going to beat the first floor. Hahaah Yes, DRTC has been having good reviews on Steam and many people got to know Rocketcat. I hope they have large sucess there, but that they don't forget us mobile gamers on their future projects, since I am going to buy every game they put out there (on Steam and mobile, even though I play mostly on my phone).
I use one on PC, though Don't count us out yet. Kepa's currently planning a turn-based strategy RPG as the next title for mobile.
Monthly "please let this month be the Paladin month!" post! (I know it won't be, but a guy can dream!) Playing Binding of Isaac in the meantime, and boy does it ever fill the shoes nicely while waiting for this update. Anyone who loves WS and hasn't yet played Binding of Isaac, I have nothing else to say but GO PLAY IT NOW, if you like one it stands to reason you'll like the other
Yep, works really well with MFi too. Especially when you plug your IOS device into a TV with an HDMI out.
Quazonk? THE Quazonk? THE guy that I have stared at for well over a YEAR now?!? You you telling me, and please be honest... you REALLY went 999 floors? Dude, if that's true, you're a GOD. I have been beating my brains out trying to get on those leader boards (not at that level yet, highest is floor 39 w/ Abbie.. I digress). Dude, for real, I have hated you for a long time. I really thought you were a cheater, and were taking one of those coveted 25 spots on the LBs. I know that's not cool, but I also thought it was uncool of YOU to cheat at this beautiful game... so you mean to tel me my hate has been misplaced? You really are THAT good? I flippin started a Reddit post in r/wayward souls because of you!! Lol, go read it. It's called "how are these people getting 999f and Survived?" Lol, another user and I eventually come to the conclusion you MUST be cheating. Well, I am here to apologize friend. Your post about you completing 999f reads as real, I would just like confirmation from you. And trade secrets would help too. =] build for Blythe? (Really!?! 999 with BLYTHE!?! Ha, he's the guy I'm the worst with!) Anyway, just wanted to let you know you have one less enemy and one more fan. Lead on Quazonk, lead on.
Well, just got done doin a ton of reading in this thread. I had imagined RocketCat to be... well, exactly as they are, a great group of people that take the time to care about their game and fans. This was pretty evident when playing their game, one does not see the level of care and attention to detail in games anymore (not to even get into the mobile platform, we're talking games period) To quote Quazonk ( whom I've also learned is legit, legit as they come) "Bravo, RocketCat" Also, a question. Yesterday I started an endless run (died 35f in) and noticed something that I thought was strange. After about 20 floors, I saw no more Emberforges. I didn't notice it last run I got that far with Abbie because I had my "perfect setup" lvl II Ghelid, Lexicon, and Silver Eye Staff. But with Svala, I turned down about 5 EF's looking for the Twins. I had Trickster and Green. They finally came up, and I got lvl II Trickster, then nothing. Around floor 20-22. Is this normal? So you can't change olaystyles the whole way through? Like, you have just a little bit of time to set up? If you don't have what you want, tough luck? I just thought there would be SOME chance at EF's. Like, 1 out of every 10 floors or something.
