I've actually been having great luck with coming across pets. I think I have found at LEAST one pet every time I have played so far. I had to start over from scratch so I've been concentrating on the warrior so far. Maybe he's some sorta "pet magnet" lol

I played my first 2 games, no pets for the few floors of the gold dungeon I survived.
Restarted my device, next 3 games all had pets in early rooms on the first floor (all of which I ended up losing to the villainy of the teleporter bug). Played cultist for most of that.

Still haven't gotten a single pet and I've been getting whooped. I might give up soon since I haven't been making any more progress since the first time I played :\ Just not good enough I suppose.

I'm keeping my eye on the health regen buffs too. Probably pretty incredible considering the Adventurer upgrade gives way less than that, off top of head.

You may just be really lucky with hats. Chance based stuff can be really streaky.

Seems to be an iOS 8 issue. It's gone in iOS 9. We attempted to fix this a couple times but we're really not sure what's causing it.

Oh, interesting idea. Will consider it! What do people think of this? I wonder if it would be too confusing.

Yeah, this is the main reason why I didn't want to make pets permanent.

Thanks! Yeah it's always with iOS 8, it seems. Though for some bizarre reason it sometimes just goes away, even with iOS 8.

Do you have all the classes unlocked? Where are you stuck? I think we might add some alternate ways to unlock new classes, at the least. Also, I'm almost sure that we're going to up the pet drop rate in the next update, which is coming in about a month.

I would love to have pets follow around (that do nothing) as it would at least have players play your game even longer to collect them for the sake of finding them all, as I'm pretty sure hats added a huge amount of replayability even though they don't offer any bonuses. I'm a collector myself so I'd love this kind of update.

I think I'm above average at these games but not amazing enough to beat it, which requires a lot of skill. I have every class except the last one. I can't beat the 2nd dungeon with any character save the warrior and then I get destroyed in the 3rd dungeon with the warrior. I've never seen any ending for this game since owning it the first day it was released :( Very sad.

The above post made me wonder, do you guys have stats on how people are playing? Like the percentage of people who have beaten the first, second, etc dungeons?

Yeah I wonder if we should have some sort of reward for collecting every pet. Maybe even something like collect every pet, and you start with a random pet every game? Maybe not bad if you can start with one of the weaker pets. Will think about this.

I think I'm ok with people never beating the game, but I think I'd like to at least make it so everyone can eventually get all the classes. Also, I wonder if there should be some sort of alternate way to unlock the Paladin that doesn't involve winning? That's trickier since the Paladin also progresses the story past all the other characters.

Not really. I can't remember if we can look at "number of people that got this achievement" %'s or not, which would be a pretty good indicator. I guess we could look at Endless scoreboard entries vs copies of the game bought, to learn how many people beat Labyrinth/Shadow as a percentage.

How about reaching the third dungeon with any character (mild progression), a certain number of playthroughs (this one seems pretty friendly), playing with each of the starter characters X number of times, or if you picked up X amount of items.

An idea I had written down was "open X amount of chests to unlock a character".

Example: Beat the Catacombs to get the Cultist. Or open 70 chests in the Catacombs, in different playthroughs. So if you got stuck, you could still get it.

Same with Paladin and getting like 300 chests in Shadow instead of beating that area.

Though for you I think this would let you get Spellsword, if you were still stuck in the second dungeon. Maybe increasing the pet spawn rate will help, too, especially with some pets being really strong.

Yeah, a cosmetic pet would be great! Maybe even match it to your armor. I love the amount of ideas from these forums that make it into the game. I'd say that maybe when you "run out" of hats found at the end of hat dungeons, maybe replace it with a rare pet crate so you'd have an incentive to go into them instead of skipping them to stay alive longer?

Love this idea! And much more than cosmetic pets, I must say. In that mode they are just chaff/distraction from the important stuff.

I think pet appearance can be like emberforge where they'll surely appear on specific floors. Unlike shrines that have temporary effect, pet effects stick to you to the end unless you change pets similar to how forge upgrades work. This balances frustration on not finding a pet, or finding too much pets on a given play session.

This sounds cool. I'd personally rather have a list of pets collected (as others have requested) similar to the current hat collection than cosmetic pets. Then the player would have an idea of how many more pets they need to find before unlocking the perk of starting a game with a random pet (if you were to add that feature). Cosmetic pets would be neat but wouldn't add much replay value, in my opinion.

I've been trying to beat Catacombs with Adventurer for so long that I've forgotten the deal with the Shadow Labyrinth level, which I've unlocked for Warrior and Spellsword. Can't remember how many stages there are, if it's a continuation of story mode, and/or how it differs from Endless. Anyone?

I prefer cosmetic pets. I think people are forgetting that you aren't forced to use hats and you probably won't be forced to use pets. If you don't want a cosmetic pet then you don't need to equip it? I doubt it's either you use a pet or you can't play the game. The game shows all your hats but you can always go back to default, you don't have to use one.

Labyrinth is the ending story for each character after Catacombs. The levels are a combination of the first three dungeons that total to 20 floors including four boss fights.

The Endless is unique in that there are no special random events/encounters and that enemies are very difficult earlier on. More importantly, health regen per floor is gradually reduced as you progress a lot further.

I decided to try the Catacombs again and now I'm getting the teleporter glitch. I guess this means I can't beat it? iPhone 6 ios 8.1. Damn it oh well. Basically once I see a teleporter I'm screwed. I barely made it past the first floor anyhow..

Did this suddenly happen, and you could use teleporters fine before recently?
