Many of the Endless functions are broken for me. I couldn't access the Endless leaderboard in-app, probably due to my iOS 6. So I could only see it in Game Center minus the class+hat used. Another issue is that my score doesn't show up there. Probably my worst problem is every time I die there, the app crashes. With those issues in mind, I got my Endless Crown with Cultist and immediately exited the dungeon with a sigh. The difficulty and length is just too brutal for my casual skill to play through it again with another class.
@Kepa, I believe my crash was in the labyrinth. I entered castle (2nd dungeon place) themed room with two mace-smashing guys. The app crashed about half way through the fight once the remaining mace guy started swinging his mace again. That probably tells you nothing though, sorry.
Wow, you should report these. I crashed in Endless run before, too, but not when I died. I was playing Spellsword and there was no enemy around iirc, then suddenly it crashed. I didn't recognize what triggered it. So I've also done the sighing exit once just as you did iirc There were also several times when I reopened the game and tried to resume a previous run, the progress was lost. I was sent to the characters selection screen instead.
So I just started playing this. Initial imp, audio is too weak on my ipad 2, even on max volume, I wish the monsters/enemies has a life bar (with numerical equivalent on it), damage counter, it will be great to know how much damage I'm inflicting or how much damage is being inflicted on me by the enemies,I mean it will be great if that remaining health bar will still suffice to endure one more hit or not, the health system is more of a guessing game. Was able to finish the first dungeon using the warrior, but having difficulty with the others especially with the mage or I just really suck in this game? Anyway, good game.
I recently started this game too, but coming from games like Monster Hunter I'd take the other stand- the 'lack' of those values makes the game better. If you know the health of everything the game just becomes a numbers game because you always think 'I need X more hits'. Just by playing you will learn how many hits it takes to kill enemies for different classes, and that some enemies deal more damage. The game is meant to be brutal, so any hit regardless of how much health it takes is due to a failure by the player to defend itself/get out of the way, and I like that because it takes skill! As for music it's fine on my end but everyone has different preferences. Maybe a volume slider would be a good addition to the game... And just some general advice to help you along is to play defensively. Your main objective is to avoid taking damage, not dealing it. Many people die because of the 'I just need to get in one more hit' urge that is acceptable in other more lenient games. Instead of risking it to kill an enemy, wait until it misses you and strike it then! Once you are very good at judging how enemies will act and where is safe/where is not safe to stand you can become more aggressive in easier sections. The warrior is the classic 'beginner' class that is the most forgiving for mistakes. The other classes require more skill and knowledge of the enemy to use effectively. Have a play around with all of them and see which one you like the best!
Hey Kepa why doesn't the characters' gift show how much it increases X by? And does the effect apply to that character as well?
Th warrior is the most forgiving, having a good attack and high health. The 'beginner' class, as he doesn't require as much skill as other classes like the rogue. The Mage requires a bit more strategy as she needs good positioning and and eye on her mana bar to succeed. Her health is also very poor. The rogue seems like the hardest of the three starters just because of the skill required and weak damage unless you backstab. The Adventurer is considered as bad by many players, but you never know, maybe you'll like him! The spellsword is my favourite, combining dashes of the rogue with a decent attack, but no up/down abilities. This means every box he opens drops a consumable item. The cultist is a fun class to play, that is if you ever get to play her haha. She is unlocked by beating the 3rd dungeon. Study your enemies and where to position yourself if you want to stand a chance If I were you I'd stick to the warrior for the moment. Don't be afraid to mingle with the other classes though!
You already said no to this but I'll ask again because I can't clear Catacombs with the Adventurer and it's the game's (designer's) fault and not mine and it shouldn't be too hard to program into the game since from what I understand you don't have any other irons in the fire: make Adventurer faster/quicker, even like one notch faster/quicker, because right now he's too slow for me to win and I want to win and you should help me win. PS That's the best sentence I've ever written.
If anyone's having crashes in the update version, let me know. We're getting Testflights out for fixes. The shield takes every hit, even minor ones. And there's no invulnerability period for it like you get from being hit as a person, so it can be destroyed fast. Maybe on the dagger toes. Tormentors don't require "followup". For boots, you have to hit the enemy a second time, with the first hint being the kick itself. With the Tormentors, you can just dash through enemies with the hit and then run away. That's the design of them, anyway. Does this happen a lot for you? What OS and hardware? What OS and hardware? Is this after the recent update, ro before? Are you talking about a specific gift? Gifts don't apply to the characters themselves.
@Kepa I'm running an IPad Air with the latest iOS. The crash I experienced was the only one I've had so I think it may have been a memory issue or something. As for the gifts I haven't bought any yet but when I press on them to see their info it just tells me what it does, but not by how much. This is the same for all gifts. Recently I experienced a bug where some doors opened before I had killed all of the enemies, and the enemies were not spawned (not slimes). It was in the left chamber of one of the rooms that have 2 side chambers that must be cleared before the door opens, if that helps. Another thing I've noticed is that in the tower, the wall decoration that look like an 8-pointed star spawns slightly after it should. It spawns when the centre of the star appears on screen, not when it's points do. The last bug I found today was when I was playing the Mage. I stunned one of those big guards with a flail with my basic attack. No idea how or why. Building on what Makoto said about Dagger Toes, would the 'unusefulness' also apply to the Cultist's backstab upgrade? Just curious. Is there a possibility of an update before now and January that doesn't include the paladin and new rooms, but just changes some minor stuff and fixes bugs? Congrats on Wayward Souls making over 400 pages!
It's a bit frustrating that after so many Labyrinth runs with the Adventurer sticking to my first winning Forge build (Sunnebrand, stealth lantern, dash+stun amulet), I tried altering some of them and got to beat it twice in three tries. I abandoned stun/dash amulets and chose Sunlight Rosary instead. It was reliable in crowded rooms and the best desperation skill for the last boss. Flicker was effective for doing a reverse combo (charge attack then quickly slash) that could help clear rooms with two-slash enemies quicker. I find Giant's Knife a bit hard to use, but Bitter Wind's critical bonus helped me clear the Labyrinth the third time. I hate the Red Death. You'll see the actual value of the gift only after purchase. Refer to the Wikia page for spoilers.
Ah I see...but not just yet I'll have a look because I like to know what exactly I'm buying, rather than doing a 'lucky' dip kinda thing.
Thanks for the explanation Kepa! Maybe I will get used to Tormentors after more practicing. As for the crashes, they were before the latest update. I haven't done that many runs recently anyway. Mine is iPad 2, iOS 8.3
HA! HAHA! MUAHAHAHAHAHAH! I just beat the labyrinth with the Mage > Just a question for those that have also beaten the labyrinth (or Kepa), Spoiler is it a coincidence that the shadow that talks to you looks like a tilted silver eye? Also what is the silver eye? Oh and Kepa I also found a buggy torch placement, thought you might want to know.
@Kepa My game crashed every time when my rogue entered the portals in the catatombs after game updated to the lastest version. When the portals started teleporting her, game crashed. Mine is iPad air 2, iOS 8.1.2
If you're interested in getting on a Testflight for a possible fix for this, email me. support@rocketcat-games We're sitting on a fix, but we need people to test it since we're not getting the crash ourselves. Ok, thanks! I'd have to ask Brandon (writer/artist) for confirmation on this, but I thought it was intentional.
Hey Kepa. There's a popular YouTube channel called AppFind that has a video every week highlighting apps. I recommended wayward souls and they feature it in their flashback game! I don't know if you know this but I just wanted to let you know. Here's the link if you want to check it out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uAfpdBBbHtA
Just crashed in the tower as the cultist. I was in a room with a moderate amount of enemies- dog, thief, mace guy, knight etc Blinded the mace guy while he was charging and regrouped. Poisoned him with the next-attack-poisons-potion and then the game crashed after that. Thought you might want to know!
Anyone know what the 'around' section of the highscores is around? There's only one person in it for me and he supposedly reached floor 999 and "survived"...
