I'll probably play the hell out of this game before I reach the wall with the swipe controls, and when the virtual buttons come, I'll realize it's not the controls' fault at all.

I don't think we'll make Paladin that brutal to unlock. That was my original idea but I got talked out of it haha. I need to refresh my memory as to what my new plans were exactly, but I think I was planning a quick but very difficult way to unlock it, that existed alongside an easier but more grindy way to unlock it.

Yeah we've known about this for a long time. It does a ton of damage. Fixing it is a little tricky due to how the attack system works, we'll probably fix it as part of the ongoing PC release work.

We'll likely have an UNLOCK THE PALADIN code anyway, for CHEATERS.

Wow, thanks! That's the highest compliment we can get for the game.

We planned to have an option for virtual buttons that are sort of like MG! We wouldn't have an attack button, though. It'd be tap the screen to attack still, and then one or two buttons for abilities (depending on character).

I'm not sure if that's slated for the January updates or not. Originally, it was going to be released with the next game in the Wayward Souls series. The next one that is going to be more like a Zelda-style game, or a more open-world Mage Gauntlet. But since that was delayed a bit due to ongoing polish with the PC release, I might check out to see if we can get this change in Wayward Souls sooner. We'll try for it, anyway! We may run out of time before we could get it in early.

I hadn't heard this news before! The concept sounds totally awesome. I can't wait to see it.

This should come in handy!! I'm getting the swipe direction wrong during a tense combat!

Speaking of which, all those stabbing dudes in the Catacombs are crazy tense and hard, especially the caped dude who revives the dead. Do you have some tips in dealing with them? I tried charge attacks but they barely get stunned. :(

We're going to start working on the more Zelda-y followup to Wayward Souls again as soon as WS PC work is done and the January updates are out. Most likely in February.

Generally (but not always) you want to kill everything else first, as the revivers have a lot of health but they're also really slow and easy to run from. Then you want to approach them carefully, get an attack off after they attack, and run. If they start resurrecting, you can wail on them for awhile and that will prevent them from reviving an enemy. If there's a second high health enemy, then it becomes trickier because you have to switch targets to the current reviver when it's trying to get an enemy back up. They were designed to be pretty tricky, as they're simultaneously tanky targets (which you normally want to save for last in other games) and high priority resurrection factories (which you normally want to kill first in other games).

Besides what Kepa already said, I'd like to add a strategy I use to attack them safely: stay in one of his diagonals when attacking. If you don't align yourself vertically or horizontally with him, his fast dashing attack won't hit you. You can then even spam some attacks without having to worry about getting away from him fast. This requires some knowledge of your hitbox, your attack's, and the enemy's, but it works well after you get used to doing it consistently.

I have a feeling a lot of people think that way. Like me. I mean, I haven't played it in weeks...? Months? Yet it is on the FIRST page of my games folder, which is saying a lot.

I bought it on launch day, a year and a half ago, and never had the courage to delete it. The game's just too cool to be uninstalled.

Yeah, I eventually discovered their attack directions but haven't mastered taking them on as they stab very quickly. As Kepa mentioned, what makes them trickier is the combination of the other enemies. In my case, a room with one caped dude, two jumping dudes, and two invisible charging dudes leaves me gasping for air.

Eventually, with some practice and a ton of luck, I've finally beaten the Catacombs with the Rogue!!!! YEAH!!!!

Hello yeah I still check in every so often.

Yes, that's a pretty important one. They can only attack in cardinal directions. Ideally they attack in a way that moves them right in front of you, then you hit and run away.

My big goal for Catacombs was to make the fights pretty unpredictable. For other fights in the game (and most games) you can really just use the same strategy over and over. I wanted that to be a bit more difficult to do in Catacombs, while still being fair.

Congrats on Catacombs, let me know how you do in the next area!

He's like a free sprited tom cat that just drops by whenever he wants.

Regarding the PC version are you going to keep the graphics low res or bumped them up? Did you originally choose it as a style choice or was it related to performance? They look great but I always wonder why you went that route.

I plan to have everyone complete Catacombs before moving forward to the next so it may take a while. Speaking of which, I just completed Warrior's Catacombs in a single run for breakfast. I feel a lot more comfortable with the swipe controls with learning how to shield cancel.

On a spin-off note, I haven't touched Mage Gauntlet again after buying Wayward Souls. I was supposed to play the final tower of Master Mode but got sidetracked by this. :p

    I will

Partially style, partially to keep costs down given how we have like a hundred different monster types. The pc update will add more smooth animations for all enemies, not sure if that specific feature will make it to the mobile version yet. Also the pc versions will have a larger viewable area. Otherwise the graphics stay about the same.

When I played mage gauntlet recently I couldn't beat the final boss until I remembered a good equipment gimmick to do the fight. Tip: stack items that increase fireball power.

I'm now in the slower process of completing the Labyrinth with everyone. First three characters are done, after struggling the most with the rogue.

What's that hat that I'm seeing on the Endless leaderboards? The top few people have it. Also, I finally completed The Labyrinth for the first time!

Feature- and content-wise, how will the two versions compare? For someone who enjoys gaming on his (sadly) flat and non-wearable touch screen pip boy as much as any PC (indeed, sometimes prefers it), will there be a reason other than screen real estate and slickness of animation to fire up the decrepit old laptop that remains my last tie to the world of the immobile?

Congrats on beating the Labyrinth for the first time, that's a very rewarding moment.

The hat you're referring to is The Endless Crown, the hat that you get on the 100th floor of the Endless Shadow.
