Sure, probably in a couple days. I've been really sick. For example, I just woke up after sleeping for almost 20 hours. I saw! Hearthstone was #1. Monument Valley was in the top 10 I think. I think they made Threes #3 just to be sassy. Will be done in the update that corresponds with the PC version. Before then I'd like to do one more update for iOS, but depends on some other factors. That pre-PC update would have dropbox save syncing and some more tweaks to rogue/adventurer, and some other stuff we missed. SCREW IT I'll do a draft of the changelog right here, right now: - Big new dungeon added: Endless Mode. A max difficulty dungeon with random floor types. See how far you can get! - Gamecenter Scoreboards added for Endless Mode. Shows your character used, their hat, and what floor you got to. - MFI controller support, including support for menus and the tutorial. Please send feedback on this! - Save export/import like in Mage Gauntlet, for now. Looking into a better save sync for a future update. - By popular request: Boss healthbars at the bottom of the screen. - More hats. - New "Support" section in extras. - Gnome dating simulator buried in the Super Secret Credits Level. - Coin magnet is now stronger, kicks in faster. - Saint Statue changes: - Fixed a big bug that mostly prevented them from appearing. - Statue buffs last between level transitions. - Getting "Protection" also protects your other buffs. - Rogue's Fake Out upgrade is now completely revamped. - Dashing through an enemy for first time places a decoy of yourself. - Decoy works like the mage's item, Walwin's Frock - Adventurer Lantern changes. - Using a lantern now roots you in place for 0.4 seconds. - All lanterns now do more damage. We may adjust this upwards. - More or less impossible to achieve secret hat added. I'm missing a couple things I think, will do a facebook post on Saturday.
I canna quite recall: will the PC and iOS versions be identical, apart from UI and screen estate? WIll there be a reason for iOS players to also play the PC iteration except for different controls and larger pixels?
Dunno yet really. They'll probably be as similar as we can get them. One possible difference: I kind of want to do an extended soundtrack on the PC version, since cellular download limits aren't a concern there.
When do you think you will submit the update described above? And is arena coming inthe one after that?
Ohhhhh yup, you're right. I got confused because Monument Valley was the background to the title article
It's submitted already. Just waiting on a good day to release it. Probably 9/4? Depends on timing with Apple. Would like to get some extra testing in anyway, just in case. Arena and Gauntlet (both fast-play challenge modes) should be in the next big update. Not sure if "the next big update" will be before the when-PC-version-is-out update though, or just rolled into it. Depends on how long PC takes, or if we launch a successful game before it. That would let us hire a contractor to do an extra WS update, like we did with the Mage Gauntlet update.
Just made an account to post. Gotta say, wayward souls ia a really intruiging and fun game. I just wonder id this new nearly impossible secret hat to obtain is from beating the intro lol. Either way, update should add to the fun of the game.
Here's to hoping this update addresses these horribly broken flame hallways. I feel like I can safely say I've played this game more than almost anyone on earth, and if someone were to ask me how to even get past 1 section of flame hallway without getting burned, I wouldn't have the foggiest idea of how I might go about doing that. They are not slightly faulty, they are completely broken and should either be removed completely or reworked from the ground up. They are not a slight tweak away from functioning as a player would expect.
Agreed that it would be nice, though I've cleared them without damage a number of times and I'm not even particularly adept at this game. I guess you just have to know how they are broken and act accordingly.
Will it be obvious if you've found the more or less impossible to achieve secret hat? Haven't played this in a long while but I'm pretty excited for controller support and the endless mode!
Oh I forgot I tweaked them. They'll always be pretty broken I think, but they're easier to get past now. Some things I forgot from the other changes: - Adjusted Flame Trap timing. They're "off" a little longer now. - Mines are just slightly more visible. - New rare enemy group. Yeah it has its own special level and everything. It's a great song for getting pumped.
Music The Only Way Out definitly is a great song, that song also pumps me up but the one that is my personal favourite is Amaranth's Bane! Quote from Joey Grady(I think): "My time in oblivion had shown me a glimpse of an eternal existence, and it made my soul claustrophobic. Never again will I fear the end of anything. For immortality is a stagnant fate far worse than death" The most AWESOME quote ever.
Just a thought. But will there ever be saving an in progress game added? I find when Im running amaranth keep *still stuck at floor 5 max with blythe* my battery drains quite a bit and i either keep goin till phone nearly dies or i just suicide so I dont end up with a dead phone lol. Or perhaps better question. Is there a way to pause and exit app without losing progress?
Yeah that man has some talent. I'm enjoying every song in the soundtrack. I think this is the only game where I don't play music/podcasts when I'm playing. It fits perfectly with the game. It feels as if the music was created first, then the game development was based off the music. He reminds me of Martin O Donnell. I havent played the game in a while, but I do believe that is in the game. I remember exiting the game mid dungeon and then picking up where I left off later. I really appreciate these mid-progress save features (rather than level saves or just extremely short missions), as I mostly play games in quick sessions. There have been games in the past that I've just let go simply because they lacked the feature. Slayin is a good example. Good game, excellent actually, but it sucks having to purposly die most of the time because there are no saves. Ski Safari as well, play sessions can get really long in the game (for an endless highscore chaser)
This is the case. Closing the app entirely and coming back later will load it exactly where you were.
Yeah, there are a LOT of games that could learn from WS in this respect. Your game status would probably survive a nuclear war right olong with the cockroaches.
It always saves your progress. Unless the app crashes, you can leave the app, close it, etc, and when you open it up you'll be right where you left off
