I noticed a version of the game on the amazon App Store. It was published by noodlecake. Is it a legitimate port?
Indeed it is the official android port, and it's at least on 1.1 from what I've seen of it on my friend's device.
FINALLY !!! Oh god, that feels good ! I think I had to run it like 30 times with different characters until I beat it ! Time for coins and hat farming now Thanks again for this great game !
Very cool Character balance discussion: Warrior's definitely the easiest class to play, but I'm not sure if it's the strongest. Spellsword seems like one of the strongest characters. And it always will be, simply because the game is actually balanced around him. This is because he's based off a weaker version of Lexi from Mage Gauntlet, and Wayward Souls is of course based off Mage Gauntlet. So he has that quick low energy dash that can really be used to get out of any situation if you have a quick enough reaction time. Cultist is also super overpowered. At least I think so. I'm not sure why this isn't a more common opinion, haha. Maybe it's because even though she's really strong, it does feel like you have to think about her ability use to achieve this? So playing as her presumably feels very tactical, instead of just plain stomping over everything. Even if she just stomps over everything. I like Adventurer now personally, am hoping the next changes make him feel better for people. Rogue seems on par with the other classes right now, and she's getting more stuff. So I think she may end up being one of the top tier characters. Mage is really weird to get a grasp on her actual power, because she's way different than the other characters. Also due to her nature, she's either really strong or really weak in different situations. If you have problems with energy use for her, note that using her abilities restores her energy. Once you really get a grasp on this and upgrade it to level 4 or so, you can sustain really long attack chains when you need to.
I hate this game. Screw you, Kepa. I love this game. Thank you, Kepa. Maybe I should have done this as a haiku.
It's really strange. When I'm playing as the Cultist, she doesn't feel nearly as powerful as some of the other characters (particularly the Warrior and Spellsword), and then I realize that I've just effortlessly cleared the Labyrinth. Meanwhile, the Adventurer gets some really powerful upgrades, like Orvar's Shield and Amulet of the Unseen, then dies anyway because he's incompetent.
Yeah, I used to think the Spellsword was the most powerful character but I've come around to the opinion of the cultist being the most powerful. Her crowd control abilities are deceptively strong; when I play her I get the same feeling (without the effortlessly clearing the labrynith part). I think it's due to the nature of her abilities in that they make it easy to turn crowds into a series of one-on-one battles, but you still have to fight them so it feels like you are working harder than you are. I'm a fan of the adventurer's torches, but they aren't as effective in the diamond dungeon. I found them very effective in the gold dungeon. His upswipes are powerful but they take a lot of work to use. I actually don't prefer Orvar's shield to the torches because I think he's less effective as a light Warrior, but I understand the appeal of that setup to others. I can get behind the warrior being considered the easiest to play, as the shields function as a form of extra health and the thowing axes are useful. The mage is different, but it's a very fun different. I find successful runs are heavily dependant on what upgrades you get. In my mind, in terms of balance/similarity I view the characters other than the mage in a ring in this order: warrior, spellsword, rouge, cultist, adventurer and then back to warrior. Characters next to each other in the ring share some similarities in style and play. I place the mage off this sequence because she plays so differently than the others I don't know how to fit her in.
It's weird and fun, i can't make the Rogue work like most here cuz i don't get her strategy while i find the divisive Mage the strongest char of all. I made it through all the dungeons straight and easy with her, at least compared to the other classes. I love the Adventurer, he would be my favourite lore/gameplay-wise, but there are situations where it just sucks. I think that a good "fix" for him would be to make him run slightly faster. In the end, though, i think there aren't "strong" or "weak" classes, they are just so different that some click better than others with the player. They're like a videogame-psychology test!
As for balancing; I beat diamond on 1st-3rd try with all characters except the adventurer, who I reached the boss with several times, but died. He did not have any attacks or abilities to help him kill all the enemies that the boss spawns in time, before new ones spawn in. I do not think adventurer has anything that really makes him stand out in a good way. I did beat the boss on my 5th attempt or so. But as I mentioned, all the other classes was a breeze trough the labyrinth. They are pretty balanced.
I like him the best. He's a little weak at base power, but he becomes quite strong after getting his forge abilities. When I have lvl 2 whispfire, giants knife and the multistun amulet (forget the name) I can roll through a lot of floors (if I focus). Also I beat the Catacomb boss as him 1st try I got to her. Just lantern to cancel her magic and constant attacks in between. I really don't feel he's as weak as some say.
Naw, I still hate the Adventurer and can't get nowhere with him.. I still think SpellSword is the best followed by Warrior and Cultist. I dunno why but the Mage just isn't good in the Labyrinth(for me atleast). And the Rogue's buffs have made her better but I don't think on par yet with the best. My Character Rankings - 6 - Adventurer 5 - Mage 4 - Rogue 3 - Warrior 2 - Cultist 1 - Spellsword Top 3 are all pretty close(warrior and Cultist almost even) then a big gap With the Rogue and Mage pretty close another small gap then the Adventurer. If you wanna factor in the Paladin Just based on how he plays in the intro he feels like a super souped up Warrior.( So he would probly be the best but I don't think he'll be as powerfull when he becomes playable)
Yeah, that might take some more time Playing mostly with cultist and rogue atm. Cultist lacks some aoe when you meet the huge zombie room !
