They're specifically made so that if you try to run past them, they'll still get you. Otherwise they'd be trivial. I could also possibly mess with delaying their explosion a little, but making their explosions even bigger so you have a bit more leeway maybe. No, wait, I don't think I can because that may screw up some of the rare mine rooms.

Spellsword can deal with them easily too. So that leaves Mage and Cultist. Actually, I think you can defuse the mines with Gust or Blind? Not counting their upgrades that will let you counter mines more easily.

When I'm in the Catacombs, I just reverse direction whenever I hear the mine sound. The only thing that might happen to the mines are making them slightly more visible, but I dunno.

    Okay, I understand.
I suppose I just need to get better at reacting to the sound. Possibly while dodging monsters at the same time. :p

Small suggestion/request: Music at the title screen. Or something, some audio. When I open the game I always wonder if my phone is on silent or not until the character select screen.

Whoops, accidental "quote instead of edit" post. Might as well add:

Mage Gauntlet has my favourite title screen music in video game history, and it's only a 38-second long song. I was so bummed out when Joey Grady released the WS/MG soundtrack and excluded the MG title music...probably for that very reason, the short length of the song.

Mines seem to follow the same rules as magic projectiles. Things that block or render harmless magic projectiles appear to be effective against mines. I have trouble outrunning them or moving out of range to the sound myself, but when I hear it, I usually downswipe right away in an attempt to shield/torch/dash before it goes off. I bet that other shot supressing strategies, like firing off a scroll, could work as well.

Mines are annoying, but they are uncommon enough that I feel the occasional hit is the price of playing in places where Thorned live. In a room where there are a few mines and a few monsters, I'd rather get hit once by the mines rather than avoid and put myself in a position to get hit multiple times by the monsters.

The one exception is there is a room in the gold dungeon that comes up every once in awhile that is lined with scores of mines, plus there is a group of monsters in it. I feel this room is one of the rare instances where Wayward Souls does not play fair*. This room consistently ends my run, as even if I survive it I have too little health remaining to reasonably expect to exit the floor.

    * - WS has to be one of the fairest game ever where levels are built on the whims of a random number generator. That the game remains so difficult at the same time is a tremendous achievement in balance. This mine room and a few late-level monster combinations in the Gold and Diamond dungeons are the only two instances that come to mind.

This recent upgrade is excellent. In particular, I'm struck by how many little things made it in. For instance, treasure chests can now be broken after a delay (so you can't get stuck on them) and Drudge banners are now charred to a pleasing dark gray instead of pitch black so you can see and avoid them.

The Diamond dungeon has been a mostly fun challenge. I have yet to defeat it, though I have made it past the second boss. The length is rough, though. I'm good enough to consistently reach floor 10, so each runthrough usually lasts at least twenty minutes. It takes almost forty to make it to Level 18 or so. Since I generally only can play in one hour blocks I find I can squeeze in just one good run per gaming session. I realize the game has a great pause feature and that I can pick up where I left off, but I find in doing so I usually die quickly as I'm coming back to a difficult level ice cold.

I have to admit the long runs are getting to me a little bit, and it's harder to start another stab at the diamond dungeon when I feel I've seen the first 3/4ths of it pretty regularly, and I have to sink another half hour before I get to where I haven't seen so much. At the same time, I respect the challenge- it's been stated that the expectation is only a few people will finish it, and I'd probably be okay with not being one of those people except that I'd like a crack at the final boss (which I have not seen yet) and am curious about closing the character story arcs.

I also have a lot of unused gold right now. I realize monster shopkeepers are coming, but I was wondering if for another option we could purchase some continues or extra lives as well, maybe for a steepish price like 10,000G. That way, if I die on floor 18, I could pay up and keep playing just to see the end.

The tradeoff, to respect the challenge, is that using the continues means you don't earn the completion medal or any related achievement, in respect for those who can complete the challenge on one life.

Yes, I am also a fan of the Orc Forest tune from Mage Gauntlet, and when I started hearing some of the music for Wayward Souls that I recalled from the previous game, I was hoping that one would be in the game as well.

For what can't be longer than a 30 second looping tune, it's very catchy.

I'm so eager to see video of someone beating the final boss of the Labyrinth. I keep making it to him and getting crushed. Generally I try to keep two of the magic-dissipating hourglass spells and 2 health potions in my stock if I'm lucky enough to find them, and I use them on the 19th floor to defeat the Catacombs boss.

Heading into floor 20 I've usually spent all my resources. I would love to see if there's a "trick" to it, much in the same way there is to beat the Fallen Kingdom boss. Have a hell of a time making it to floor 20, but the waves of monsters the final boss drops are just too much to handle.

If there aren't any videos in the next day or two, I'll probably just try out Reflector and make one myself. Any particular character you want to see?

I'll put out at least one today. Reflector doesn't work well unless you play pretty close to your router, but it gets the job done most of the time.

Thanks very much WooHooII! If I had to choose a character, I'd like to request to see you beat it with the Warrior, as he's the character I seem to be the most successful with. Thanks very much in advance, looking forward to seeing the video!

JackMule, I'd also like to thank you for all the time and effort you've put into creating your WS tips/hints/videos/guides, I'm sure I speak for many of us here when I say they've helped out a lot! Keep up the good work, we appreciate it.

Encountered a locked room zombie zoo with the Rogue - glad of the updates to the character, but that was still a few minutes of zipping around to try and preserve my flagging Catacombs - Floor 6 health.

Good fun! Came across the same room with the Cultist and carked it though.

    Behind you
Beat the fourth dungeon with warrior and rogue, just leaves mage and adventurer. I'd be really bummed out if I didn't get the medals, as I'm not sure if I could win again as the rogue or warrior. I also collected all the hats, now I'm very happy

Couldnt have done it without jackmule's vids

Time to try out this new dungeon. Also, what does the pink circle represent on the right side of the dungeons completed? And how do I get all other two

Warrior recorded run completed. I'll record a run with the Mage either tomorrow or the next day. I've only attempted Diamond with Mage and Warrior, so I don't know how long the others will take. They'll all take a few hours to edit/upload.

Yeah, it's not really working with my connection. I guess I'll leave the videos to you, then.

Whats a good tactic for beating the Baron in the tower, I always seem to get alot of hits on him but I always take more and die. Also I think there thould be a boss health bar so we can see how much damage I've done before I die.
