Emblem appearing. It's probably the easiest way for us to do it. I'm open to specific suggestions, but for now the thing that makes the most sense is death count. Or possibly "die in mines X times to unlock adventurer", "die in castle X times to unlock spellsword", "die in catacombs X times to unlock cultist". At least that way, you have to progress into the next area to unlock that class. As an aside, looks like the new dungeons for update 2 are going to be (unless something happens): Arena (Die 5 times in Diamond, might do a second unlock method for this too): 6 floors, with each floor being a multi-wave monster arena. Endless (Beat Diamond or Arena): Endless mode. Every floor is max difficulty, and you get different floor types at random. Scoreboard planned, with 1 floor being 1 point. Over time, your healing rate from going downstairs also goes down. Gauntlet (Beat Diamond): A compressed version of the game for quick plays. 6 floors, max difficulty, harder bosses. For people that can't get to Diamond, we'll be adding new stuff to the older dungeons over time. Brandon is seeing if he can put in a new area type in, which is likely going to be the Spider area we cut out from the game before. It can sometimes take awhile for the update to show up. It's on Apple's end, not ours. There's some workarounds above I think. If you haven't had this problem before, it's just because it's fairly rare, until you REALLY WANT to update something of course.
Same. Never seen this before. The updated app is in there in my iPad's AppStore, but my only option is "open". Really looking forward to this update; hope it's available soon. Per above dev comments it's a problem on Apple's end, apparently.
Are there any plans to include the Temple of Blorpx theme as well? I mean, it seems to already exist, but it just isn't set to spawn anywhere.
Only if I'm in a really bad mood one day and want to deliberately piss people off, haha. I think they'll remain as rare spawns, only.

Find the death count pretty silly. People will probably die in the first room on purpose until they have unlocked something. For adventurer, spellsword and cultist I would keep the same unlocking mode as you have, because beating the 3 first dungeons is fully possible. As for paladin I would add something new that you could beat to unlock him. It should be hard, but quick to finish. It should be something you could try over and over without spending too much time and get bored. It could be a single insane room stuffed with enemies, a boss rush with all bosses after eachother or something else that is short but hard. I dont think something that you would allways do, trying to unlock the paladin or not, such as dying is very fun.
As someone who is terrible at the game, please do NOT just let deaths unlock characters. That takes a lot of the fun out, IMO. I have unlocked the Adventurer, but I don't want to get the Spellsword without beating the Tower. That just seems like a cheap victory to me.
I agree with Apricosomoso and Jerutix. I am not too good at this game (yet) but I am getting better and was so proud when I beat Silver Dungeon with Rogue (before update) and earned Spellsword unlock. I will now beat Silver with all other classes, then tackle Gold. Eventually I will earn Cultist unlock. Earning this by getting better is all the fun. Unlocking by dying just doesn't feel as rewarding.
Kepa, do you think you can change how you would earn the Endless mode? Since the Diamond and Arena modes are supposed to be ULTRA DIFFICULT, maybe you should have it be unlocked once you beat the Silver/Gold dungeon. That way, you have a decent chance of surviving for awhile, because you would have a decent amount of skill. And also, there is practically no chance I would beat either of those modes.
It's probably easier to just beat the Mines than it is to die 50 times in it, if you're worried about people cheesing it as a path of least resistance. It's just for people that really can't make it through. So far I'm pretty convinced about putting in a death unlock, but splitting the difference and making it so you can't just die 200 times in the first dungeon to get Cultist. You have to actually get to catacombs and die X times for her, and same with Spellsword in the castle. Yeah I don't think it worked. We'll have to resort to adding in a "support code" section where people can type in EARLYHATS to get them. We'll probably have him get unlocked for unlocking Endless. Endless will have two paths, either beating Diamond or beating Arena. Arena's only 6 floors long. We might also make it so that you can get Paladin for unlocking some huge amount of hats, so people could eventually grind their way to him.
I don't know how or why exactly but the Rogue is so much better now I was able to easily beat the gold dungeon. Actually, when I got to the last floor I just chilled there for awhile listening to that awesome song.(which is def. my favorite from the game and maybe one my favorite songs from a video game all-time.) i love the usage of the real instruments( violins and trumpets I think?) mixed in with the regular synth stuff. As for the Adventurer... I dunno, I still think he's definetly lacking esp. with all the new buffs to the other characters. I dunno how much of that is because I don't like that character in general? As for the Labyrinth...are forges random or every 6th floor? I've only seen one forge and that was on the 6th floor(didn't get to the 12th so I don't know) I guess in general this is a great update. A definite thumbs up from me. Can't wait for the next.
Suggestion for update 2: New and more epic music. Some music is great, like the boss tracks, while others (like many from the catacombs) are slow and not catchy.
