Just finished my first play through with the three original classes. I'm starting my first real play through with the Warrior class now and will be noting upgrades, enemies, weapons, and items. I'll be putting out a short guide detailing these things. I'll update you guys as it progresses #

Anybody willing to help with information gathering just let me know, it's not gonna be a short process.

Completely understand, thank you :D and "next game"? As in a wayward souls sequel? Or another RPG?

A lot of small things will change with the classes after the update, just a heads up.

WS won't get a direct sequel, though we'll do more in that Mage Gauntlet/Wayward Souls universe later. NEXTGAME will be similar to Wayward Souls, but composed of a mix of ideas and player feedback we decided not to go for in WS. It'll be more open, such as being able to pick what order you do the dungeon in, will have more focus on stats, and will take place in one big dungeon with different areas as opposed to the map checkpoint system we used in WS. Also we're revamping the combat to fit better in a future co-op multiplayer game, though NEXTGAME will probably be singleplayer.

Seems pretty rad! Wayward souls is a pretty big game, will this next game take on that? Or will it be a smaller side game in the same universe, such as Mage Guantlet

NEXTGAME will be smaller in scope. Probably like 13 enemies instead of around 100, for example. But it'll have more character classes, most likely more than double.

I lost count, Brandon probably knows.

    Behind you
Sounds great, was also wondering about MG2 and any ideas you have for it. MG and WS are my two favorite iOS games ever, and I'm really looking forward to it

I will continue to play rocketcat games so long as they remain IAP free.

I read on their facebook that the second update will include controller support and other fixes/tweaks. So it won't include the arena endless mode? That's the feature I am waiting for!

It's a ways out. The MG/WS team will probably start MG2 after we make a planned co-op multiplayer game.

NEXTGAME will either be free+IAP or likely $7 to start. Haven't decided yet. The design of it won't change too much either way, since the IAP would be to unlock characters faster for the most part.

Did you see the newest Facebook update today? Endless is planned for Update 2, where you keep fighting through difficult random levels and there's a scoreboard for how many you can survive through. Not sure about an Arena mode yet though. If we do it, I think Arena may end up being a non-endless mode, unlocked after you die X amount of times in the fourth dungeon.

Ahhh so its that zelda-ish game RCG twitter mentioned a few months back. They said something about making it a free to play game. And is the name of the game "NEXTGAME" or is that a code name of some sort? This discussion should be in its own thread lol

I would pay 20 dollars for a game that had no IAPs before I downloaded a free game that had IAPs. Sorry. Just include all the costs upfront.

Awesome, I didn't see the newest post when I sent that but I have now. I just thought an update sounded a bit boring with just tweaks and controller support (I don't use controllers)

    Looking forward to update #1!

Why are you only planning on making similiar games and not something new? Just a question

They'll be similar mostly in that they're the same genre. Three reasons. We made a lot of new engine stuff for it and it's kind of a waste to only make one or two games after all this work, unless you make extremely simple games (we don't). "Action-adventure" is an awfully big genre with a lot of ground to cover, we could make a lot of new stuff in there without it becoming stale for us or players (combat changes, openness of world, equipment system changes, structure changes, theme and story, etc). The last is that I like making about three games that are "same genre but tries different ideas", because every time I make a game there's discarded ideas I want to try that could have made it a completely different game. See the Hook series, where they're all games sharing a central grappling hook mechanic but with major changes per game.

Kind of a weird question though, since I've lost count on what Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Zelda sequel we're currently on.
