I struggle to aim with the Mage. I can spend 10-20 seconds trying to kill a bat because I Just. Can't. Hit. It. I'll keep trying though. She's a murderer for anything other than the little dudes.
Somehow encountered that Blorpx room again and found another new enemy there. I've documented them all for the wiki, with a note that the Blorpx theme isn't supposed to appear anywhere and can only show up in rare special rooms.
In the upcoming first update, health potions will act like they have all the upgrades for them, with those warrior upgrades being replaced by something else. They'll heal about as much as going downstairs with an upgrade or two. I wonder if we should have just not had any upgrades, then. They're only really there to give people hope, they're intentionally not that strong so that grinding isn't supposed to be mandatory. For future games we'll probably cave in and allow meaningful grinding since 1) People love grinding 2) It does have a good use as a kind of adaptive difficulty. But not this game. Payout in the third+fourth dungeon is going to be upped, but I haven't upped it in general. No drastic, intentional difficulty reduction is planned. Things may be a little better for you in the updates though, just because everyone's getting buffed in power. Warrior gets better offensive upgrades in exchange for having 6 shields instead of 9, and Rogue, Mage, and Adventurer get even more significant changes. There's also some bugfixes that make the game a little easier, like the Saint Statues actually appearing more than once, ever (this is a big one) and some of the really long levels being made a bit shorter. I don't like easy mode difficulty options in games. Always seems halfassed. Hopefully the above changes help you. Mage Gauntlet widescreen: Some day. We've been wanting to do this for awhile. The trick is finding time to do it, and also a reason to do it. A good reason might be polishing it up a little before having it ported to other platforms.
I got around 10 hits on second boss before dying. I really regret investing all that money in rogue abilities because warrior is waaaaaay better.
You can't open that door. I believe it was the door you came through during the tutorial as the Paladin.
I agree, might have been better without them. I have avoided them so far. Regarding bosses -- all of the boss strategies I've seen posted (and my own experience with the first and second bosses) rely on 1) having a large stockpile of consumables and 2) blowing that stockpile all at once to kill the boss asap in a reckless all-or-nothing style. Is this how most people do it? It seems the bosses were designed with this in mind, rather than designed to be killed without the aid of any consumables through careful dodging and attacking.
Aside from with the Rogue and the third boss (where you can go all in with an hourglass or other magic nuller) my boss kills have all involved a fair bit of dodging and getting in a few hits, even if I did dump all my consumables on the boss.
Bosses were designed with dodging (by movement alone, not dashing) and simple attacking (no consumables or even abilities) in mind. Only way to balance it for all the characters. Of course hoarding consumables makes this way easier, but they shouldn't be necessary for any boss. Originally I was kind of worried about how well the Hourglass nukes the third boss, but eh. It works thematically and also I didn't want the third boss to be too overwhelmingly difficult given how hard it is to get to it. Easy fix to making that boss way the hell harder, if we wanted: Making Custos drop in, like in the Baron fight.
Cool, thanks. I only played the intro twice, I never kept track of it. That makes sense. @ Kepa, or anyone else who knows. The thred's huge... Is the first update in the approval process or has it not been submitted? I'm dead stuck right now, only have the gold dungeon unlocked with the warrior and grinding for 800 gold average for 3000 gold abilities is very quickly making this game a chore instead of fun, I'm hoping maybe things'll change in the future.
Would love to see video of someone doing this for the second boss for example. I can't seem to find any. Another way I feel the "I'm not going to learn the boss, let me just yolo facetank it with a stack of consumables" approach is rewarded is because it takes so long just to get a single attempt on the boss, you would have to spend a *much* longer time overall learning how to fight with finesse than to just yolo it.
The game is frigging perfect And the new Angry Birds game has hats - not sure if that's lawsuit material or just plagerism as flattery
I struggle in generally but especially with the mage with up and down swipes. I often take damage because I am running up or down and then shoot right or left when I wanted to shoot up or down. Isn't a problem when moving right or left. Might have to with how I hold my iPhone.
Every time i play this game it's fun and challenging and that's all I care about. I'd love to see a direct to endless mode with leader boards for quick play throughs ( or maybe not if you don't suck at this game like I do) and another ranged charachter class like a gun smith or something not another sword based charachter. also can you post a list of the the update please ? 200 comments in and I'm a bit lost on what's being added/ changed Kudos for the great game rocket cat makes my job a lot more fun.
is the paladin even possible to get? Because I'm kind of a perfectionist and I won't be able to live with myself until I've gotten every achievement, have all classes, etc etc.
I don't think she can with any of her standard moves. Some of the upgrades might be able to break shields, though, and her throwing daggers ignore shields.
So I've just beaten the third boss with a fifth character, the Cultist. This leaves only the Rogue left for me. I dunno how I'll be able to survive 20 floors with her in the diamond dungeon in the update, assuming I'll even get through the gold one. This will be fun.
