Thanks for the code. Just posting some feedback on the app. It looks nice and runs smoothly on my device. My only complaints at the moment would be the rotation sensitivity when I try and rotate the board and when I try to zoom in and out via pinching it'll also rotate at the same time. The sensivity is way too sluggish, taking practically forever to turn the board manually 90 degrees.
It is on an iPad1... I must say, you have succeeded in making chess on an iPad worth playing, a feat I was not wholly convinced was possible. Bravo. The game is straight-up chess, without pyrotechnics, coins, or power-ups. In other words, it's just sweet, beautiful chess. However, it's not just chess, and here's where your skill comes in. All the little flourishes actually add to the sum of the game. The visuals, the UI, the movement, the BGM/sounds, the board/backgrounds... It's actually kind of hard to explain, but for the first time I've seen an iDevice chess game actually worth keeping on my device. It's like the ultimate "travel chess set." For anyone curious, it has the vibe of the scene in Harry Potter where they're playing with the giant chess pieces, only more subdued. If I had one niggle (I always try to find something to suggest in games that are otherwise solid. ), I would enjoy a LITTLE bit of flourish on "special moves" like Crowning, Check, Checkmate, taking pieces, etc. But just A LITTLE more.
