I'm normally not this blunt and always try to give games a really fair chance. I usually stick up for a lot of the underappreciated gems in the app store but this is not one of them. This release is a catastrophe and the game is in such a poor state that I can't even bring myself to believe that updates will fix it. Deleting and getting a refund due to crashes and poor performance asap. I'm sincerely sorry for the devs because it's an ambitious project and you guys deserve props for trying. But I'm also sure that in the long run you'll benefit the most from your audience just giving it to you straight.
Update to the latest version and youll see that the game plays alot better and looks better. Graphics are cool, hardly any lag (4g itouch) Nice menu, very easy to understand, could be cleaner Controls are better than 1.0, but still not the best AI is trash, nuff said.
Read Plz! Everyone has to realize that you have to update to version 1.3 because they sorta messed up on something when releasing Warm Gun!!! This is their first game they've made on the AppStore so you can't blame them.
V1.03 has been out the majority of the day alongside V1.0 of course...I don't get why people didn't get that over V1.0?
the reason for lag would probably be the fact that your playing with people on the other side of the world cause it isnt in the us yet
Are there really no killcounts or ranks? Someone just told me that over Twitter. What kind of FPS doesn't even track your freaking kills?
The 'lag' is the 3D engine, not the servers. The game simply has an abysmal framerate. I got several cryptic crash message windows and the menus have unresponsive moments that would only fit a game in beta. And yes, I've been playing v1.03.
I had high hopes for Warm Gun. I still do. But for now, I could not in good conscience recommend the game (in spite of running the 1.03 update) for anyone but for those who actively want to support Emotional Robots in the hope of fixes. The controls are neither intuitive nor precise, in comparison to popular iOS shooters. In offline mode, AI is not as much bad as broken, as bots often stand around as you fire round and round into them (I downed a bot four times in a row, as he respawned, ran out into the open space in the middle of the map, turned his back to me, stoo watching the sky, and got shot down, over and over). Some graphical elements are not retinaized. And, most bothersome, the game is slow, sometimes lagging, sometimes just running at a low framerate, on my iPhone 4. What a strange night, with Warm Gun being such a technical disappointment, Siegecraft failing to capture my imagination so far, but the almost unknown Starbase Orion arriving to provide a deep and massive (and massively fun) experience.
well said Roooo7 ... also if the 1.0 version release on the U.S appstore illl be a bit peeved.....unless a update badge pops up shortly after...
To address a few things: Carnival of Bullets is using a slightly old version of the WarmGun engine. This will be updated in a patch shortly, and will include the improved controls, tutorial, ui etc found in WarmGun proper. both games run on 3GS quite well, so framerate issues on certain devices are merely a matter of .config file settings for each platform. Given feedback from others, I know that ipad 1 settings need to be improved for sure. Crashes are known to happen on occasion, but do appear -far- less often when closing out of other apps first. Taking out gamecenter was a tough, but ultimately necessary decision. For the time being, certain things like leaderboards and achievements were disabled as we transitioned to gamespy. That being said, these hooks are implemented and it will not take long to re-enable them in gamespy. What you get in exchange for these features however, is quite nice: -24/7 Dedicated- servers, which will always outshine gamecenter's performance -the potential to issue game balancing updates often (weapon damage, reload time, etc) without forcing players to download another 200+mb client update -cross-platform multiplayer with android -persistent data between platforms (carry certain stats, future upgrades/unlockables, etc with you between iOS, android, PC, etc) Hope this clears some things up, -Dusten
There's quite a story behind that, but basically we couldn't take down the 1.0 version (which really wasn't 1.0 at all) from itunesconnect until launch. Only the 1.03 version remains on the store now. -Dusten
